The art of, 6 August – 4 October
L’Esprit de L’Escalier is an international project set up in Helsinki’s Kulttuurisauna in 2012 to further the idea of publishing as a creative practice. The project labels itself as ‘a publishing house for unwritten, unbuilt, unpublished words, sounds and images: commissioned, translated, read, sung, performed or remixed’. When working under this label, translatable as ‘staircase wit’, its authors remain anonymous.
Their contribution to ‘The art of’ hinges on a new version of a display from the exhibition ‘Unbuilt Helsinki’ at the Finnish Museum of Architecture in 2012.
The art of, with L’Esprit de l’Escalier, Henrietta Lehtonen, Hedy Leung and Eglė Ridikaitė, seeks to bring together visual art, architecture and design as an extended field.
