We promised breathtaking virtuosity, touching delicacy, and the surprise of discovering how the human body stretches, and our artists delivered a spectacular experience.

A massive round of applause to all the choreographers and dancers who brought their dance greetings from Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Macao, Hong Kong, China, the Philippines, Italy, Spain and Finland.

This year’s World Dance on Stage International Gala was a clear proof of powerful international cultural exchange, bringing together spectacular talent from around the globe to Helsinki.

We were honored to present the internationally renowned, Finland’s Contemporary Dance Flagship, Tero Saarinen Company.

Our deepest thanks to Liisa Nojonen, Artistic Director of Joy of Dance and WDOS, for her unwavering dedication to the art of dance. It is her dream of cultural exchange that continues to grow stronger.

What binds us to our past? To ourselves?

Rooted in Korean folklore and traditional mask dance, this internationally acclaimed piece uses breathtaking puppetry (performed by Yunjoo Song) to explore the duality of our existence, the tension between tradition and modernity, memory and the present moment. Through delicate and intricate movement, a poetic reflection on identity comes to life on stage.

A winner of the Grand Prize at the Seoul Arts Awards, the Best Dancer Award, and a celebrated coach on Mnet’s hit show “Stage Fighter,” Bo Kyung Jung is a powerhouse artist redefining contemporary Korean movement. She brings her internationally celebrated piece, “Gaksi Solo,” a stunning dialogue between dancer and puppet that has been lauded from Seoul to Paris.
