Ken Mai - Butoh Aesthetics Ken Mai is an International Japanese Butoh artist, choreographer, teacher, and yogi based in Helsinki, Finland.

He has studied with legend Butoh founder "Kazuo Ohno" in Japan. His background: gymnastics, music, martial arts, acting, German expressionist dance, ballet, Laban, Zen meditation at a monastery in Kyoto. He is also a Yogi who studied Ancient Hatha Yoga in Rishikesh, India.
ケン五月はフィンランド・ヘルシンキを拠点に国際的に活躍している舞踏家、振付家、指導者そしてヨギでもある。彼は舞踏創始者である大野一雄氏に師事する。経歴は器械体操、音楽、武道、演劇、ドイツ表現主義舞踊、ラーバン、禅を京都の妙心寺と圓光寺で修行する。また彼はヨギでもあり、古代のハタヨガをインド・リシケシにて修行する。

Our Story

Ken Mai was born in Nara, Japan. He has studied Gymnastics, Martial Arts and Rock Drums since 8 years old. Hoei Acting school/Osaka. German expressionist dance with Otoya Eguchi/Osaka, Japan, Honda Ballet school/Kyoto, Laban Centre in London. Regularly studied with Rosa Yuki, Mr.Yamano(Byakkosha Butoh Company)/Kyoto, Japan, and Butoh Founder Kazuo Ohno/Yokohama, Japan. Others Butoh Courses: Ashikawa Yoko(Hakutobo Butoh Company), Setsuko Yamada, Akira Kasai, Yumiko Yoshioka. Wing Chun Kung Fu, Ancient Hatha Yoga Teacher Training 200 H at Patanjali Yoga International Foundation in Rishikesh, India, Tai Chi, Indian Meditation at Sri Chinmoy Centre/Kyoto, Tao Shiatsu with Endo Ryokyu/Kyoto, Tibetan- Massage/Dharamsala, India and Zen Meditation practiced in Nara and in kyoto at Monastery and Temple in 16 years.
