The popular Design Diplomacy programme returns this year for its tenth edition, taking place from 2–4 September. ⭐️

Once again, it opens the doors to ambassadors’ residences — remarkable spaces that are rarely accessible to the public.
Design Diplomacy is built around the idea of open dialogue. Designers from different countries meet as equals, sharing their experiences, perspectives, and ideas in an informal conversation guided by a card game created specifically for the event. 🪀

🪄To mark this anniversary year, the programme will feature an especially engaging lineup of guests and conversations.

The heritage of Finnish design holds an amazing tale of curiosity and chance. This autumn, the story unfolds during the 2026 Helsinki Design Week as the festival spreads out across the Kaisaniemi Botanical Gardens, turning our attention to encounters.

Aalto University’s annual exhibition Designs for a Cooler Planet returns this autumn with more than 20 practical solutions, experiments, and future-facing ideas created by researchers and students.

Aalto University campus once again serves as one of the main venues of Helsinki Design Week, as the exhibition explores how design can respond to the environmental challenges of our time.

The full Helsinki Design Week programme launches on 11 June.

Designed by Milja Liedes, it features fabric-like grid elements inspired by this year’s theme, “the Oncoming Other.” Warp and weft threads of different colors meet and together form a new shade. 🧩
