Frame ja Suomen Kulttuurirahasto järjestävät marraskuussa 2026 opintomatkan 16. Dak’Art – Dakarin biennaaliin Senegaliin ja Marrakechiin, Marokkoon. Matkalle valittiin viisi osallistujaa nykytaiteen ammattilaisille suunnatulla avoimella haulla.

Ulkomaille suuntautuvien opintomatkojen tarkoituksena on muodostaa kuva kohdemaiden taidekentästä, vierailla kansainvälisissä nykytaidetapahtumissa, rakentaa verkostoja sekä kartoittaa mahdollisia yhteistyökumppaneita.

Five participants were selected for Frame and the Finnish Cultural Foundation’s study trip to Dakar, Senegal, and Marrakech, Morocco!

The study trip takes place in November 2026 and offers participants the opportunity to explore the art scenes in Morocco and Senegal, including the 16th Dak’Art – Dakar Biennale of Contemporary African Art.

Viime vuoden kohokohdat ja toiminnan avainluvut on nyt paketoitu tuoreeseen vuosikertomukseemme! Vuoden 2025 Framen toimintaan sisältyi esimerkiksi:

🌼 129 tuettua apurahahanketta, jotka koskettivat 179 taiteilijaa ja 22 taiteen asiantuntijaa.
🌼 24 kansainvälistä asiantuntijavierasta, joilla yhteensä 91 tapaamista Suomessa paikallisten taiteilijoiden ja organisaatioiden kanssa.
🌼 55 valmistuvaa taiteilijaa ja 16 kuraattoria eri puolilta Suomea osallistuivat portfoliotapaamisiin.
🌼 2 opintomatkaa ulkomaille, joihin osallistui 15 nykytaideammattilaista Suomesta.
🌼 12 keskustelu- ja yleisötilaisuutta, joihin osallistui yli 900 ihmistä.
🌼 Yhteistyötä yli 60 kotimaisen ja kansainvälisen organisaation kanssa.

In 2025, Frame’s grants enabled 129 international projects of Finnish contemporary art around the world. For our annual report, we asked grantees to share experiences on their presentations.

Performance duo Aavar’s performance ‘Almost Someone Else’ was presented at Issue Project Room in New York in September 2025. Frame supported the project with a grant.

The decisions based on Frame’s May mobility grant application round are now published on our website! Grants were awarded for international contemporary art presentations featuring Finnish and Finland-based artists in 2026–2027.

A total of 32 015 euros was awarded in grants among 15 applicants. Of 166 grant applications, 9 % was awarded a grant.

The next application round is in October 2026, when we invite applications for mobility and production grants.

Notes from the Preview Week: Politics at the 61st Venice Biennale – New blog text on our website 📝

In addition to its contemporary art presentations, the 61st edition of the Venice Art Biennale will be remembered for the political turbulence and numerous demonstrations. In 2025, Frame's grants enabled 129 international projects of Finnish contemporary art around the world. For our annual report, we asked grantees to share experiences on their international presentations supported by Frame.

Artist Nastja Säde Rönkkö presented her extensive installation ’Survival Guide for a Post-Apocalyptic Child’ at multiple locations in the UK, including the historic Fort Burgoyne in Dover, UK, and Quench Gallery in Margate, UK.

”Building international projects requires a great deal of behind-the-scenes work, travel, networking, production planning, and time. Frame’s support essentially made it possible for me to travel to install the work and attend the opening, as well as to focus on the long-term international presentation of the piece.”

𝘈𝘦𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘢𝘯 𝘚𝘶𝘪𝘵𝘦 is a publication that offers a porous extension of Jenna Sutela’s work at La Biennale di Venezia 2026, where meaning drifts, gathers, and slips away. Accompanied by a vinyl record featuring excerpts from the work’s original score, it brings together the project’s dispersed elements of sound, movement and atmosphere in a form that can be held yet remains in flux.

Through newly commissioned texts by Stefanie Hessler, Elvia Wilk, Gary Zhexi Zhang, and a vignette by Jenna Sutela, the volume expands the work’s inquiry into language, technology, and living systems.

As in Aeolian Suite itself, where winds become vocal protagonists and carriers of messages at the edge of comprehension, the publication attends to what circulates between signals: the inaudible, the unpredictable, the untranslatable.

Olemme avanneet haun, jossa suomalaiset taidegalleriat voivat hakea tukea kansainvälisille taidemessuille osallistumiseen!

Ensimmäinen hakukierros on käynnissä 8.–24.6.2026, jolloin rahoitusta voi hakea vuonna 2026 tapahtuvien messujen osallistumismaksuihin, kuljetuskuluihin ja vakuutuksiin. Myönnettävät avustukset ovat suuruudeltaan 5 000–15 000 euroa.

Framen henkilökunnassa tapahtuu tänä kesänä muutoksia, jotka vaikuttavat erityisesti apurahapalveluihimme.

Vuosina 2024–2025 Framen rahoitukseen kohdistuneiden leikkausten seurauksena olemme joutuneet lakkauttamaan apurahakoordinaattorin tehtävän. Myös kolme määräaikaista tehtävää päättyy tänä kesänä.

Haluamme lämpimästi kiittää apurahakoordinaattori Veera Lizéa, Venetsian biennaalin projektikoordinaattori Francesco Raccanellia, tiedottaja Pauliina Kalliota ja ohjelma-assistentti Alexandra Koskista upeasta työstä Framessa! 💛
