Mori Collective (FI)

MORI Collective is one-year-old street wear company from Helsinki. Mori Collective consists of two brands Mori and Diamonds From Dirt (DFD). The goal is to create stylish clothing and accessories from ecological materials with sustainable close-by production. The collective's designs are inspired by nature, symbolism and geometric forms as well as organic and unique recycled materials.

The word Mori has two essential translations. In Japanese, it means forest, and in Latin, it refers to mortality. These meanings summarize the core values of the company. It emphasizes the importance of taking care of nature, and at the same time it reminds of our limited time to realize dreams.

We present our lighting designer Teo Lanerva who is behind the amazing looks of the venue.

Teo Lanerva is a freelance lighting designer based in Helsinki, Finland. In addition to his diverse projects he studies lighting design in the department of Lighting and Sound Design of the University of the Arts Helsinki.

Teo works mostly with contemporary performances, music and events ranging from small underground clubs to festivals. Nothing lights Teo up as working with music. Although he couldn’t make it without the precision and small details of performing arts. Guess that’s the main reason why he has chosen to work constantly on both fields. Recently Teo also started to work with video, which interests him more as an intelligent light source and set element than source of information.

He loves the first creative part in all projects as much as the technical development of the process. As his greatest strengths he sees the ability to combine detailed artistic visions with complex technical systems and communicating his ideas using realistic sketches. You can see examples of these renderings in the end of many of the galleries.
