Amos Rex's Generation 2026 exhibition is now open, and the exhibition’s first performances take place already next week! 💞

Artist Aura Tiira developed her piece, Interweaved, during a TSC Studio Residency at the end of 2025. The piece consists of three solos, and forms an intersection where body, garment and movement meet. Garments unfold into gesture, rhythm and movement and reveal the intimate dialogue between body and cloth.

“The performance explores how clothing can extend into motion, transforming garments into a living part of expression. It illuminates our personal relationships with what we wear and opens a door to new layers of meaning.”

During her residency, Aura shared a bit about her process and ways of working – which included experimentation with different materials, silhouettes and the kinds of movement they evoke.

The first part of the solo premieres already next week at Amos Rex.

Triple Bill / WILD IS THE WIND

TSC’s 30th-anniversary triple bill brings together three works by choreographers from three generations, reflecting dance’s relationship to tradition and renewal. ❤️‍🔥

🔵 Wild Is the Wind by Sonya Lindfors
The evening takes its name from Lindfors’ new large-scale work, commissioned by TSC. The piece draws on Black performance traditions and explores the transformative power of art, movement, and performance to shift energies and atmospheres. The work features TSC dancers alongside Akim Bakhtaoui, Marlon Moilanen, Axelle Munezero, and Maele Cheza Sabuni – all of whom have previously worked with Lindfors – as well as live trumpeter Devina Boughton.

🔵 Garden by Tero Saarinen
In Saarinen’s new duet, two people construct a shared way of being in a world where the connection to nature has become blurred. The garden appears as a metaphorical space in which the audience observes the human relationship to environment, form, and time.

🔵 Room 7 by Carolyn Carlson
Tero Saarinen returns to the stage in Room 7, a solo created for him by Carolyn Carlson, one of the leading figures of European modern dance. Through the absurd and Carlson’s signature poetic expression, Saarinen dives into archetypes of the mind. Room 7 is also a tribute to the long-standing collaboration between these two artists.

5 performances, at Tanssin talo on 22–26 September! ❤️‍🔥

Vuoden 2026 Stop Hatred Now -tapahtuma alkaa tänään ja jatkuu 15.5. saakka! 🌷

Stop Hatred Now on usean taide- ja kulttuuriorganisaation yhteistyönä toteuttama, kerran vuodessa järjestettävä interkulttuurinen ja antirasistinen tapahtuma-alusta, joka luo uutta diskurssia moninaisuudesta. Tämän vuoden tapahtuma korostaa taiteen roolia ja vastuuta. Miten taiteessa tehdyt erilaiset valinnat muovaavat elettyä todellisuuttamme?

TSC on mukana yhtenä tapahtuman tukijana.✨

Amos Rex's triennial Generation exhibition is almost here again and for the second time, TSC is one of the exhibition’s residency partners 🎈

Generation exhibition, held every three years, brings together the voices of a new generation of artists, and a wide range of artistic forms exploring the pressing social questions of our time. The triennial presents artists aged 15–23 and also includes performance art. Since 2023, TSC has been the exhibition's residency partner, supporting artists whose work is driven by an interest in movement.

Four movement-based performance artists or working groups from the Generation 2026 exhibition were selected for a week-long residency at TSC Studio. 🧡 Aura Tiira, Elli Roth and Leo Terävä & Aliina Kemppainen took part in the TSC Studio Residency, while Aarne Pieski and working group explored the intersections of sound and movement in the TSC Sound Residency. The residencies, held at the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026, also included the opportunity to receive artistic mentoring from TSC’s artists and staff.

The exhibition opens at Amos Rex on 13 May! Collaboration is made possible with the support of Amos Andersons fond

“Imagery and metaphor I use a lot in the class. Using especially nature and flora and fauna, it unlocks a new way to approach the body; that we don’t think that my arm just goes up now, but what if my arm reaches into the clouds or I become a seedling bursting from the snow in the spring.”

So what is Tero Technique? Who is it for? How is it approached in our morning classes? David shares how he teaches the technique and how he uses the tools of imagery and metaphor to open new possibilities and pathways for movement.

The best way to learn more about the technique is of course to come experience it yourself & we hope to see you in the studio in the upcoming weeks! 🌱

Our morning classes & workshops run until early June, with Tero Technique classes until 19 May. Sign up here: https://terosaarinen.com/tsc-studio/training/

Happy International Dance Day! We agree with this year's messenger, Crystal Pite, who highlights creativity and movement as a way to live kindly and curiously and hand in hand with the world. 🧡

"Through creativity, we accumulate resistance and hope through small acts of courage, curiosity, kindness and collaboration. In dance, and in dance-making, we find proof that humanity is more than our latest heartbreaking global failure."

In honor of the day, we’re dedicating this small post to Westward Ho! – TSC’s longest-running piece. Through 30 years of it being performed, most recently in Italy last Thursday, it has been interpreted by multiple casts and seen by different generations, tackling the big questions of life and humanity. Here's to dance – and 30 years of it! 💫

Dive into Jiří Kylián’s repertoire! 💫

Nataša Novotná’s workshop week offers insight into two seemingly different dance worlds; Gaga, the movement language developed by Ohad Naharin, and the choreographic work by Jiří Kylián.

The workshop week consists of five morning classes and concludes with an extended Saturday workshop. The morning classes explore Gaga, using its tools of imagination and deep connection to the body and senses, and ends with one task drawn from Jiří Kylián’s repertoire. The Saturday workshop dives deeper into the choreography by Kylián.

Training for the day with Gaga offers both joy and challenge. Kylián’s repertoire plays with the finely attuned dancer, physically ready to communicate on a large scale of movement forms. In the class Nataša wishes to create a friendly environment - respecting the past, living the present, creating the future, and something new! 🌼

Nataša Novotná, workshop week:
Mon 25– Sat 30 May
Workshop price per class Mon 25 May – Fri 29 May: 18 €
Price for Saturday's workshop: 40€
Price of the whole workshop week: 100€ (send us a mail to [email protected] if you want to get the whole week!🧡)

A beautiful first blossom of Garden last night at Fondazione Luzzati Teatro della Tosse and festival! 🌷💖 Thank you for the premiere!!

Garden grows from the human need to reconnect with each other, with nature, and with our planet – and how this can lay the groundwork for something new to emerge. The work carries inspiration found in the writings of French novelist and essayist Marguerite Yourcenar, who views garden as a metaphorical place that mirrors humanity, vulnerability, and our capacity for hope. 🌿❤️

Next the piece will be seen in September as a part of TSC's anniversary triple bill!
