Peter Köhler’s long accordion books capture the fluidity and flow-like nature of his drawings. Köhler first started to use notebooks since they allowed him to work on a long drawing bit by bit and on the move, for instance, while traveling.
In the four-part series Dolls in Dreamland, Köhler was fascinated with the archetype and myth of the doll: an uncannily human-like object that, still, is not a real person. The series consists of four long unfolded notebooks, two of them, Dolls in Dreamland I & II, are currently on view at Helsinki Contemporary in Köhler’s solo show No Rest Beneath the Rose. Dolls in Dreamland III is exhibited until September at Nordiska Akvarellmuseet in Skärhamn, Sweden.
