Helsinki Urban Art is a non-governmental organisation specialised in urban art and placemaking. We create art, events and places that enliven urban environments in Helsinki as well as in other cities in Finland and abroad. We introduce new ways of using urban space, create participatory urban culture and solve problems by means of art and activism. Helsinki Urban Art is run by a group of urban art and culture professionals. We collaborate with people working in the field of urban art both in Finland and abroad. Here is my finished mural from Concreate Urban Art Festival in Kajaani, Finland! 🐻🐻 🇫🇮

It was a huge undertaking. I spent 11 days painting it and painted thousands of individual hairs in the bears' fur, making it possibly my most detailed work ever! It's also a pretty big mural. There's a person in the lower right corner for scale... a banana just wouldn't have worked. 🍌

Concreate Urban Art Festival 2026 - Kajaani. July 6 - July 19.

MAKING OF CONCREATE 2026

During the past week, several walls and underpasses have been under transformation in Vesitorninmäki, Kajaani. In total, Concreate is bringing 18 artists both from Finland and abroad to create a unique permanent collection of art in the city. Looking forward to another week of seeing all the artists’ styles and backgrounds meet under the midnight sun!

The festival will focus on Vesitorninmäki on Tornitie, Tornikuja and Koulukuja in Kajaani, where eight murals will be painted on the ends of buildings. In addition, a total of three underpasses will be painted nearby on Sotkamontie and Rinnekatu.

The rest of the artists are arriving today, come over to catch the murals in process if you are close to Kajaani!

CONCREATE 2026 YLEISÖJUHLA

Tervetuloa juhlistamaan Concreate Urban Art Festival 2026 -taidekokonaisuuden valmistumista Kajaaniin! 6. - 19.7. järjestettävän festivaalin aikana 18 taiteilijaa maalaa Vesitorninmäelle kahdeksan muraalia ja sen lähistölle kolme alikulkutunnelia luoden näin yhden Suomen merkittävimmistä katutaidekokonaisuuksista.

Kokoonnumme juhlistamaan valmistuneita teoksia la 18.7. klo 18 - 21 Vesitorninmäelle kaikille avoimeen yleisöjuhlaan. Tapahtumassa järjestetään opastettuja taidekierroksia, taiteilijat kertovat taiteestaan ja halukkaat pääsevät kokeilemaan spray-maaleilla maalausta. Lisäksi Kiinteistö Oy Kajaanin Pietari grillailee makkaraa kävijöille.

CONCREATE 2026 CELEBRATION

Welcome to celebrate the completion of the Concreate Urban Art Festival 2026 in Kajaani! During the festival, which will be held from 6 to 19 July, 18 artists will paint eight murals on Vesitorninmäki and three underpasses in its vicinity, creating one of Finland’s most significant street art complexes.

We will gather to celebrate the completed works on Saturday 18 July from 6 to 9 pm at Vesitorninmäki for a public party open to everyone. The event will include guided art tours, artist talkst, and those who are interested will have the opportunity to try painting with spray paint. In addition, Kiinteistö Oy Kajaanin Pietari will grill sausages for visitors.

Concreate on täydessä vauhdissa! Festivaalin aikana yhteensä 18 kotimaista ja kansainvälistä urbaania taiteilijaa luovat kaupunkiin uniikin pysyvän teoskokonaisuuden.

Festivaali keskittyy Kajaanissa Vesitorninmäelle Tornitielle, Tornikujalle ja Koulukujalle, jonne maalataan kahdeksan muraalia talojen päätyihin. Lisäksi lähistöllä maalataan yhteensä kolme alikulkua Sotkamontiellä ja Rinnekadulla.

Monet taiteilijat työstävät teoksiaan parhaillaan, käy pyörähtämässä ja näe kun seinät heräävät eloon!

UNIQECO

Uniqeco (Leena Tuomanen) is a Helsinki-based visual artist whose practice ranges from ceramics and textiles to sculpture, installations, and mural painting. Nature, biodiversity, and the rich forms and colours of the living world are constant sources of inspiration throughout her work.

Alongside her studio practice, she has created murals in underpasses, industrial buildings, galleries, festivals, and public spaces across Finland.

MINTTU PYYKKÖNEN

Minttu Pyykkönen is a Finnish artist specializing in mural art and painting. Based in Helsinki, with roots in Kajaani, she creates dreamlike works inspired by meaningful experiences in nature viewed through the perspective of urban life. Their recent paintings combine imagery from everyday city life with moments of stillness and the importance of deep connections to nature.

COLT21

Colt21 is a self-taught visual artist, graffiti writer, and community artist based in Turku, Finland. With more than 30 years of experience in graffiti, his work ranges from traditional letterforms and three-dimensional compositions to murals, public art, and participatory community projects.

Inspired by urban environments, traces of the past, and the relationship between nature and the built landscape, his work explores transformation, memory, and time. Drawing from graffiti, collage, photography, and public art, Colt21 creates works that encourage viewers to see familiar spaces from new perspectives while highlighting the dialogue between nature and the city.

Doppel is an Italian-born mural artist based in London whose figurative work explores the relationship between people and nature. OTTO SCHADE

Otto Schade is a Chilean-born urban and contemporary artist whose work bridges architecture and fine art. Originally trained as an architect and urban sculptor, he later developed a distinctive visual language inspired by Surrealist masters such as Dalí, Magritte, Escher, Giger, and Beksiński.

After relocating to England in 2006, Otto Schade became an active figure in the street art scene, gaining international recognition for his signature ribbon-style murals and thought-provoking imagery. Today, his work spans murals, paintings, collage, and illustration, combining technical precision with imaginative compositions and subtle social commentary.

LUCA LEDDA

Luca Ledda is an Italian painter and mural artist based in Turin. After graduating in Illustration from IED – Istituto Europeo di Design, he began his career in advertising before dedicating himself fully to his own artistic research. In 2015, he started transferring his illustrations onto walls, discovering a passion for muralism and urban art.

Since then, Ledda has participated in festivals and exhibitions around the world. His grotesque and surreal style is recognized for its strong visual impact and symbolic imagery. Alongside his murals, his work is included in museum collections and collaborations with international cultural institutions.
