As the last run of 𝑷𝑬𝑻𝑬𝑹 𝑳𝑰𝑽𝑬𝑫 𝑰𝑵 𝑨 𝑯𝑶𝑼𝑺𝑬 - 𝒂 𝒅𝒐𝒍𝒑𝒉𝒊𝒏 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒅𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒅𝒐𝒕 starts on Thursday it is high time we introduced the working group. First up are the actors Anna Airola, Ria Kataja and Iida Kuningas.

𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐚 𝐀𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐚 is a freelance actor from Loviisa who graduated from the Theatre Academy in Helsinki in 2022. She has worked broadly in theatre, voice work, and audiovisual productions. 𝑷𝑬𝑻𝑬𝑹 𝑳𝑰𝑽𝑬𝑫 𝑰𝑵 𝑨 𝑯𝑶𝑼𝑺𝑬 - 𝒂 𝒅𝒐𝒍𝒑𝒉𝒊𝒏 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒅𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒅𝒐𝒕 is Airola’s first collaboration with WAUHAUS.

𝐑𝐢𝐚 𝐊𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐣𝐚 graduated from the Theatre Academy in Helsinki in 2000 and has since worked as a freelance actor. Kataja is known for her versatile roles in film, television, and theatre. 𝑷𝑬𝑻𝑬𝑹 𝑳𝑰𝑽𝑬𝑫 𝑰𝑵 𝑨 𝑯𝑶𝑼𝑺𝑬 - 𝒂 𝒅𝒐𝒍𝒑𝒉𝒊𝒏 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒅𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒅𝒐𝒕 is Kataja’s second collaboration with WAUHAUS.

𝐈𝐢𝐝𝐚 𝐊𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐬 is an actor and Master of Theatre Arts who graduated from Theatre Academy in Helsinki in 2014. Since graduating, she has worked extensively with both Finnish- and Swedish-speaking theatre in Helsinki and has been a member of the Teater Viirus ensemble since 2017. 𝑷𝑬𝑻𝑬𝑹 𝑳𝑰𝑽𝑬𝑫 𝑰𝑵 𝑨 𝑯𝑶𝑼𝑺𝑬 - 𝒂 𝒅𝒐𝒍𝒑𝒉𝒊𝒏 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒅𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒅𝒐𝒕 is Kuningas’s third work with WAUHAUS and the third time she has been involved in creating a premiere based on a script by Pipsa Lonka.

New performance: 𝑬𝒍𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒆𝒕 (𝑩𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒆𝒂)!

Our first co-production with Helsingin Kaupunginteatteri, 𝑬𝒍𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒆𝒕, premieres on 3.9.2026. 𝑬𝒍𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒆𝒕 is based on Iida Turpeinen’s novel which is the most successful Finnish debut novel of all time. The stage adaptation of the book has been written by Pipsa Lonka.

𝑬𝒍𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒆𝒕

The skeleton of a Steller's sea cow stands in the exhibition hall of Helsinki’s Museum of Natural History. The bones have journeyed there through several centuries and across the globe. Their story intertwines both the history of imperialism and the rise of the modern conservation movement.

𝑬𝒍𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒆𝒕 invites us on an expedition that backtracks all the way to the starting point of the concept of extinction. The performance traces how the peoples of the Western world realized our crushing capacity to wipe out both individual creatures as well as entire species. On stage a museum is constructed and deconstructed. Its displays offer us a glimpse into the past, where the first waves of the sixth mass extinction once arrived on a faraway shore

𝙉𝙪𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 opens today at the Espoo Museum of Modern Art (EMMA)!

𓎢𓎠𓎟𓎠𓎡𓎢𓎠𓎟𓎠𓎡𓎢𓎠𓎟𓎠𓎡𓎢𓎠𓎟𓎠𓎡

Today, 𝙉𝙪𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 will be presented for the first time at EMMA. The performance is created by WAUHAUS member Samuli Laine and it investigates the politics of care, gender and coexistence through the acts of caregiving and breastfeeding. Originally developed as a one-on-one performance, 𝙉𝙪𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 now unfolds both as a performance and as an installation that invites the audience to pause and rest.

We want to thank everyone who brought this performance to life and those who made it possible to give it a new life.

First shows of 𝙉𝙪𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 will be presented at the Espoo Museum of Modern Art (EMMA) this week.

The exhibition In Search of the Present will open at EMMA 13.3.

𝙉𝙪𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 will be presented as part of the exhibition between 13.3.2026 – 9.8.2026. Once a month there will be a performance of 𝙉𝙪𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 for one participant at a time, held in front of an audience. The 𝙉𝙪𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 performance space will be open during the whole exhibition.

𝙉𝙪𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 is a one-on-one performance that makes space for tenderness and vulnerability. It investigates the politics of care, gender and coexistence through the acts of caregiving and breastfeeding. 𝙉𝙪𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 questions social norms, softens body expectations, and calls viewers to perceive connections of a wider coexistence. It invites us to examine interactions between living things.

On July 15, 1965, one of the most bizarre experiments in scientific history begins on the U.S. Virgin Islands: a dolphin named Peter starts receiving English lessons. In order to learn a human language, the dolphin and a young woman, Margaret Lovatt, move into a house filled with water.

The play turns its gaze toward our love for animals and shows that such love does not automatically lead to good treatment of animals or to meaningful lives for them; instead, love can be horrifyingly blind and incapable of seeing the suffering of the beloved.

What a year 2025 has been!

A brand new work brought to life, old ones revived, shared and toured.

Encounters, conversations, places and people that shaped this year and made it a truly wonderful one.
Also: some changes ahead when our beloved member Jarkko will start as an artistic director of Zodiak - Center for new dance in January. He will continue as a satellite member, and we wish him all the best.

𝙉𝙪𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚, which first premiered in 2020, will be presented at Espoo Museum of Art (EMMA) as part of the exhibition In Search of the Present 14.3.2026 – 7.2.2027!

𓎢𓎠𓎟𓎠𓎡𓎢𓎠𓎟𓎠𓎡𓎢𓎠𓎟𓎠𓎡𓎢𓎠𓎟𓎠𓎡

Once a month during the exhibition, there will be a performance of 𝘕𝘶𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 for one participant at a time, held in front of an audience. The 𝘕𝘶𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 installation will be open during the whole exhibition.

In 𝘕𝘶𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦, the performer Samuli Laine dissolves any associations and expectations we may have regarding care and the act of breastfeeding in this intimate encounter between him and his guest. Laine understands breastfeeding as a radical driving force of change and invites us to take a closer look at the interaction between living beings. With great care, he approaches the connections between humans and nature, opening our eyes to the countless networks of human communities and biological processes that sustain our bodies and enable us to live together on Earth.

Laine then invites his guest to be breastfed, thus creating a space in which social norms can be transformed. 𝘕𝘶𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 addresses the fragility of life and the necessity of recognizing and accepting our own vulnerability.
