‘When the Light Breaks’ - oil on canvas, 80x100cm ☀️
In this piece I wanted to capture the essence of waking from a dream. This painting is defined by its dual orientation, in landscape it depicts a woman laying on a bed as the early morning sun begins to wake her from her sleep. However, in portrait orientation, she is suddenly rising up from the depths of the ocean towards the sky above her. Transforming the scene from a seemingly mundane reality into a dreamlike ascension.
