‘I closed my eyes just for a second’ 💙

With my usual style of flowing lines this painting captures a suspended moment of tension, between waking and dreaming; the figure hovering in the fragile space between where reality loosens its grip.

Bathed in cool, bluish tones that soften the edges of the world, the boundaries between the tangible and the ephemeral begin to dissolve.

What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty’s glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

I love to paint blue skies. Blue skies energise me. A day with colour and clarity always brings life and vibrancy. My art tries to capture that same lift. filling my work with a sense of possibility that grey days never manage to offer 💙

Blue skies draw me in with their simplicity. They’re a pure field of colour, a natural canvas that invites contrast, shape, and movement. Whereas grey skies feel endlessly mundane, a kind of dullness that flattens everything it touches. I have no energy for that kind of nonsense, give me clear skies everyday 🙌

My work isn’t just about the visual, it’s actually an exploration of light and life, and the fleeting moments we experience.

Flowing lines represent presence, temporal moments in life. I use the lines to try and capture the flow of time and movement, and I like to use to imply form to gentle figures enjoying their time here, however brief it may be ☀️

For curators and collectors asking about the conceptual framework, this is a brief look into the idea behind the brushwork ✨
