Out today: rebranding of YLE (Finnish Broadcasting Company) News, Sports, Morning and A-Studio. Title music pieces are composed and performed by us, and this is indeed quite the continuum to be a part of! The video on this post presents YLE News titles through history, and our version starts at around 00:35.

This project was a HUGE undertaking – we wrote an entire album’s worth of material that was edited into these the title tracks. We really wanted it to be the best it could be, and we are so happy that now it’s finally out in the open. It’s also a bit scary – our fellow Finns will basically hear our sounds every day if they watch TV or listen to radio.

We would like to thank everyone at YLE for their trust in our sounds. Especially our supervisor/mentor for this project, Petri Alanko. We’re big fans of his work, on for example the videogames Alan Wake and Control. It was truly an honor getting to work with him.

Eino & Koskettajat tarttuu uudella singlellään ”Maria Magdalena” suomirockin klassikkotarinaan.

“Tulkintamme mukaan Mana Mana aloitti tarinan raa’alla kuvauksella tyttären mielenterveysongelmista sekä isän ja tyttären suhteesta. Sitten PMMP aikanaan jatkoi kertomusta tuoden esiin hauraan Marian oman näkökulman, mikä mielestämme vaikuttaa suorastaan läheisriippuvuudelta. Meidän tarinamme, “trilogian päätösosa” kertoo Marian tuulisesta elämästä mielisairaalan jälkeen. Halusimme antaa Marialle vapauden isän ikeestä, sekä hänen levottomuudelleen rauhan.”

Kappale keinuu kaihoisin sävelin indierockin aalloilla, muistuttaen jostain ajattomasta.

Out today: Aini - Kipeä mies. Produced, recorded and mixed by us.

Really proud of this production! Love the song of course.

I usually don't like dogmas and principles guiding my actions in studio, but this time I took on a dogma: I took everything I like about 80s pop clichés (which is not a whole lot). And I worked really hard to make it work. Glad I did! I think that this chorus sounds really fresh and catchy.

The arrangement actually turned out a bit fashionable, because it's a bit like what they call 'Synthwave'.
