I work with the economic valuation of non-human life through research-based conceptual and material transformation, because economic systems continue to determine which lives are considered valuable and which become disposable.

I used discarded top to make these otherwise invisible structures of value physically observable.

The work avoids depicting violence, instead creating a conceptual paradox between the commodity value of an object and the life rendered economically surplus.

The result is a material encounter in which economic abstraction becomes tangible, allowing the viewer to reconsider how value is assigned to living beings.

Have you ever thought about this?

Creator is a conceptual artwork examining the cultural frameworks through which the human self is positioned as separate from the environment it already inhabits. Through material research and spatial perception, discarded materials are transformed into a tactile field that implicates the viewer within the system rather than placing them outside it.

A circular blue surface, embedded with stones and interrupted by a mirror at its centre, becomes a material and conceptual field. The blue evokes Earth’s waters, while the stones introduce geological time into the work. The mirror shifts the viewer from observer to participant, questioning the perceptual distance established between human subject and environment.

Drawing on ecological art, anthropocentrism, materiality, and more-than-human perspectives, the work considers how cultural frameworks shape the way humans perceive their position within planetary life.

Based on research by Emslie et al. (2024), Ecological Monographs.

Eyes is the symbol of sentience in production animals.
Two circles hold it, organized by the system to be seen as form and not as the animal’s experience.
The body remains visible.
The individual capable of perception does not.

Hide opens September 5 at Sinikalliontie 10, Espoo. Nine works, two days, one room.

The exhibition comes from twenty years of research into how societies produce invisibility through lens of production animals.
Seven of the nine works are shown together for the first time.

Opening: September 5, 17-19. Show runs September 5 and 6.

Address: Sinikalliontie 10, Espoo, Finland (30min from Helsinki city center)

My long-term conceptual art practice
began with a personal observation. Over time developed into a research-based inquiry into the social production of invisibility.

The practice moved from autobiography toward a conceptual methodology. It is informed by scientific research, critical theory, material investigation, and process-based experimentation.

It works between conceptual abstraction and material transformation. And looks at the cultural, institutional, and economic systems that shape perception, visibility, and value.

Industrial animal agriculture is the main research site. Through it, broader social structures become visible and legible.

Each body of work is part of an ongoing artistic research practice. Not separate projects, but connected studies.

Together, they explore how visibility is constructed. And how socially hidden realities can be brought into view.
