Finishing deck cleaning!

The pressure washer washed away the moss and dirt that the brushes couldn’t remove.
We’ve washed the cockpit and cleaned the scuppers. Time to go inside!

I can’t wait to see Eliefrood clean.😁

And if you want to join the project, you can support us on GoFundMe and Patreon.

See you:)

Is it… actually a cleaning day?

It all started with washing the cockpit. Me and my dad raked it out, I collected all the trash, and we started pouring water… but it didn’t go away - the scuppers were clogged.

First, I tried rinsing them with a hose, but it didn’t help!
So we climbed inside and found hoses attached to the scuppers.

The thing is, the scupper system looked like a tree. It was a bundle of two hoses. One was attached to a scupper on the deck and went straight out to sea. Attached to this large hose was another small one, which led to the scupper in the cockpit.

The whole bunch of scuppers worked well; water passed between them. But the exit to the sea itself was clogged. I tried flushing it with water pressure, but in the end, the small hose from the cockpit scupper just burst.

It all ended with the fact that while dad was studying what was going on there, I was dismantling the bulkhead between the aft cabin and the space where this system was located (because it was blocking the view and there was no way to clean or fix the system).

That's all the updates for now. Work is in full swing! Lots of mud, water and fun

My First Sailing Boat: a DIY Rebuilding
Hi! My name is Vita, I’m 15 years old — and this is my project.
I´m starting a big project: restoring an old sailboat that will eventually become my home.
We’ve already found the boat — it’s a Dehler Optima 98.
I’ve already paid the owner a deposit of €1000.
Now I have one month to raise the rest of the money to buy the boat. I invite you to join my project by supporting it.

-– What exactly are we going to do?
We’re going to completely strip the interior, leaving only the hull and rigging, and build, essentially, a new boat inside the old shell.
The plan is:
- remove the old interior, wiring, and systems
- build a new, ergonomic and functional interior
- install new electrical and water systems
And when it’s finished — I will live and travel on this boat.
-– Who are “we”?
When I say “we,” I mean my dad, mom and me.
My dad is a yacht interior designer, and he’ll be teaching me how to rebuild everything as a full DIY project.
-– Why is this important to me?
I used to live on a boat. I know what it’s like — living in a small space, saving water and electricity, moving with the waves.
When we moved to land, I had comfort — school, an apartment, the internet, convenience.
But over time, I realized — I want to go back.
For freedom. For travel. For a life close to the sea.
-– Why €4500?
That’s the amount I need to complete the purchase.
1. Buying the boat — €3000
2. Purchase tax — €240
3. Marina berth for 2 months — €600
4. Polish flag registration — €500
5. Safety reserve for unexpected costs — €160
-– What do you get in return?
You become part of this journey — part of the team that makes this project possible.
Your names will become part of the boat and part of its story.
You’ll be able to follow the whole process on YouTube.
You’ll see:
- how we inspect and choose the boat
- how we strip everything inside
- how we create the interior design
- how we solve problems (and make mistakes)
- how I learn navigation and become a captain
-– Why do I believe in this?
Because we have a plan.
Because we’re ready to work hard.
Because we can do a lot with our own hands.
I’m inviting you to be part of this adventure — to rebuild this boat with us, step by step, and see how the boat gets a second life… and I do too.
Join our crew.
Thank you for your time!
— Vita 🙂
