Join us for an exhilarating evening at the En Route Story Jam — an open-mic night strictly for storytelling.

Throw your name into the hat, and if selected, you’ll take the spotlight to captivate us with your true, personal story. Whether you’re a seasoned storyteller or stepping up for the first time, this is your moment to share tales of rule-breaking, rebellion, and daring decisions.

Theme of the night: Breaking the Rules

To ensure a dynamic and engaging experience for all, please follow these guidelines:

- It must be your story to tell
- The story must be true
- The story must be on theme (“Breaking the Rules”)
- The story must be 5 minutes or less
- The story must have stakes

Prepare for a night brimming with unexpected twists, heartfelt moments, and inspiring stories that challenge convention.

Pitching competitions are a great place for entrepreneurs to practice storytelling!

A pitch is a very specific story with a very specific goal. Mainly:

1️⃣ Convince the audience that your idea is good at returning a profit (or ideological goal) that is better than other ideas that they have heard.
2️⃣ Convince the audience that you are the right person to do it.

Meanwhile all the conventional rules of good storytelling still apply:
▶️ You need to pull the listeners in with a hook.
▶️ There needs to be a reveal (build the tension)
▶️ There needs to be a causal relationship between sections
▶️ The end needs to be satisfying so that the listener doesn't feel "cheated".

It was a joy and an honor to sit on the jury of the finals of the Karate Pitch competition, at the Universidad Europea de Valencia and organized by JERONIMO LOPERA of Startup Valencia, together with David Cohen, Mariola Terol Sánchez and David Gómez Casinos to support the local entrepreneurial community!

With on the stage , Cristina Trilles, Felix Klockner and Marieke Jonker we had some fantastic stories of spectacularly bad decisions, but also very relatable ones.

As entrepreneurs we often feel alone in our pursuit. These vulnerable confessions help us connect to the community by showing us that even for the succesful ones there were plenty of times that it didn't go so smoothly.
