Squee! I was nominated for a One Voice Award! 🏆🎉

Category: “Audiobooks - Best Performance - Factual” for my narration of “The Rich Hermana: A First-Gen Guide to Money, Mindset, and Wealth (No Matter Where You Started)"

I’m completely surprised and thoroughly delighted! This is my first voiceover award nomination.

Thanks so much to the One Voice USA 2026 judging panel, Michele Cobb for thinking of me for this title and Ixamar Palumbo, M.S. for writing this important guide and selecting me to voice it. It was a true honor to embody the Rich Hermana.

So pleased to be on this list with so many of my talented colleagues. Yippee! 🥳❤️

Happy launch day to THE RICH HERMANA by Ixamar Palumbo! 🎉

I was delighted to narrate this inspiring guide to financial literacy for first-generation immigrants seeking better money habits, a positive money mindset, and a clear path toward generational wealth. 💸

I loved the mix of relatable, practical guidance with poignant (and sassy!) storytelling about growing up first-gen and having to learn how to navigate the American financial landscape.

The book includes:
✅ Actionable advice on budgeting, investing, and building better money habits.
✅ Clear breakdowns of financial essentials like credit scores, high-yield savings, and profitable side hustles.
✅ Insights to shift from scarcity to abundance, honoring family sacrifices while building lasting generational wealth.

It was an absolute honor to embody The Rich Hermana.

Thank you, Ixamar, for writing this heartfelt book and selecting me to voice it. I know your insights will help so many people!

Thank you to Michele C. and Vibrance Press for connecting me with this opportunity.

And thanks to Evan Andree and the team at Banvard Audio for their excellent post-production work.

Happy book birthday to The Rich Hermana!

“From Stuck to Serendipity - What Happens When You Finally Surrender”

A couple weeks ago I was interviewed on Fearless and Flawed, a podcast that focuses on the unfiltered stories of female business owners. Their tagline: “women in charge.” Sign me up!

The podcast hosts, Sara Ferrer and Serena Williams, are female entrepreneurs themselves and described the vibe they were going for during the interview as friends chatting over coffee. Girls going to brunch.

And so, that’s how it went! Unscripted, honest, real. And goodness me, listening back I hear just how much I laugh. Like, every other sentence. (I also say “like” more than I would like ; )

But hey, “flawed” is in the title and it was such a pleasure having such an interesting chat with these two. We covered a lot of ground, much of it unexpected. From writing to AI voices to shifting from nervousness to excitement.

I was also amazed to see how they presented my story on the episode page. I hadn’t submitted a bio or given any input into it. It’s what they gleaned from the interview and my website. They could have had no way to know that “serendipity” is one of my favorite words so I was delighted when I saw it show up in my episode title.

So rather than describe it myself, I’m just going to copy and paste what they wrote. It made me sound more exciting than I ever could! (Seriously, it’s clear their expertise in branding and marketing, these two. Hit up Sara and Serena if you want some marketing magic!)

What happens when you finally let go of the thing you’ve been holding onto for years?

For Sion Dayson, it looked like packing up her life in Paris and moving to Spain—not to chase her writing dream, but to walk away from it entirely. After years of pouring herself into a novel, signing a deal, and watching it fall apart (twice), Sion didn’t quit out of failure—she chose freedom. She let the dream rest. She surrendered.

And that’s when it happened…

Two publishers reached out within 24 hours. The book was back on. But this time, it didn’t carry the weight of expectation. It was pure joy. The moment she stopped pushing, the dream met her where she was.

Now based in Valencia, Sion’s voice carries through projects around the world—from audiobooks and meditation apps to narration, museum tours, and accessible media. Her second act as a voiceover artist began with a casual compliment—and turned into a full-blown calling. One she’s built from the ground up with resilience, technical chops, and a deep love for nuance.

Sion doesn’t believe in chasing what isn’t right. She believes in noticing what lights you up—and letting that guide the way. Her story is a reminder that sometimes success doesn’t look like effort. It looks like ease, clarity, and choosing your peace.

What does your voice really say about you?

This week on Fearless and Flawed, we’re unpacking something we all deal with—whether you’re leading meetings, pitching ideas, recording podcasts, or just trying not to sound like a panic-fueled robot on Zoom.

Why does confidence show up in how you speak, not just what you say?

Can nervousness actually become excitement—with a single mindset shift?

And in a world of AI voice clones, what still makes your voice irreplaceable?

To explore this, Serena and Sara brought in award-winning writer + voiceover pro Sion Dayson to dig into:

— How to use your voice to build trust, clarity, and presence

— Why breath, pacing, and pauses are your secret communication weapons

— What to do when your career reinvents itself—and you weren’t ready (hello, control issues)

— How to keep your human edge in a machine-learning world

This isn’t just a creative industry chat—it’s a practical, funny, and totally human conversation for anyone who wants to speak with more purpose (and maybe even less panic).

Tune in and find your voice—literally and professionally. Link to the episode in the comments!

Hi friends. My voiceover peeps will be very familiar with the audition process. But I have lots of beloveds from other eras of my life that may not be.

One of the most common refrains among voice actors when it comes to auditioning is “send it and forget it.”

When we receive a script, we analyze it and bring it to life in the best way we can. We often do 2 takes to show range, then send it along for the client to decide if our voice/interpretation fits their vision.

We do this process thousands of times. Some would say our job is auditioning.

The majority of the time we don’t get feedback. If we book a job, that’s the feedback that the client liked it. 😉

That’s why any chance to receive feedback is a valuable resource.

I’ve been doing these Voiceover Audition Check-ups (VOAC) with CastVoices recently. Each week VOAC invites an industry guest - usually a producer or casting director - to a 1-hour Q&A. Afterwards, we’re sent an audition and the guest gives us helpful feedback.

Hearing tips, advice, and preferences directly from the people who hire VOs, then receiving their thoughtful responses to our specific audition is incredibly useful.

Well, this week I received a delightful email - I had “won” a recent VOAC.

It was particularly thrilling because the category was “nonfiction storytelling” - a category close to my heart.

The producer wrote 3 juicy paragraphs of feedback about my audition, ending the third with “no notes!” (music to the ears!). My voice was also described as “personable, friendly, informative, knowledgeable, with wonder and humor in there too.” 🤗

The other part of VOAC that’s helpful is hearing each week’s winning entry. I adore hearing how other voice actors interpret the same script. I learn as much from listening to my peers’ work as having my own work critiqued.

This week, mine was the audition sent around. I thought you might be interested in hearing it, too.

PS: I would LOVE to narrate a documentary like what was in the audition. If you have a project you’d like my voice on, you know where to find me. ❤️

I'm excited to share my newly redesigned website!

Lighter, brighter, more user-friendly, helpful and fun. I'm happy to finally share it with the world.

Working on it has taken up the better part of this year. Yay for crossing off a 2023 to-do item before the end of the year! 😄❤️

Did you know that the first week of October is ?

It was launched in 1982 to highlight the value of free and open access to information. It’s become an annual event promoted by the American Library Association and Amnesty International. As a writer, daughter of a librarian, and open-minded global citizen, it’s a cause I strongly support.

Blinkist, the book-summarizing learning app I narrate for, has curated a “Banned Books Collection” that’s free to access this entire week.

I’m proud to have narrated nearly half of the titles in the collection (Toni Morrison’s “Beloved” and “The Bluest Eye,” Angie Cruz’ “The Hate U Give,” Suzanne Collins’ “The Hunger Games,” George M. Johnson’s “All Boys Aren’t Blue,” and Maya Angelou’s “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.”)

You’ll find the full list of modern classics here: https://try.blinkist.com/bannedbooks/

What’s your favorite once-banned book?

We believe in the power of knowledge and the importance of diverse perspectives. That’s why for Banned Books Week we are making a selection of 14 challenged classics and contemporary reads in our library available for free – for everybody.

There’s nothing more fulfilling than being able to voice meaningful and important work.

The National CASA/GAL Association for Children supports and promotes court-appointed volunteer advocacy so every child who has experienced abuse or neglect can have safety, a permanent home, and the opportunity to thrive.

CASA stands for court-appointed special advocate and GAL for Guardian ad Litem. These highly trained volunteers advocate for the best interests of children who are in foster care. They work with legal and child welfare professionals, educators, and service providers - and just as crucially, serve as an anchor for the child. Someone they can count on.

It was an honor to voice this video urging people to become a CASA/GAL volunteer. They are so very needed.

Episode dropped today!

I was invited onto the new "Remote Routine" podcast. Each week they interview professionals who work from home and ask for their #1 productivity tip. Episodes are short and sweet (around 5 minutes).

Here I talk about...virtual co-working! Does anyone else do this?

It definitely helps me keep my butt in the chair (instead of going for more snacks and/or playing with my cat). At least while I'm on camera co-working with others 😜

Happy listening!

📣 NEW DEMO ALERT: ESL! 📣

Some of my favorite projects to voice are materials for English-language learners. In fact, I discovered voiceover while teaching EFL (English as a Foreign Language) at a university here in Spain. We were recording listening activities for our students when the sound engineer asked if I was a professional voice actor!

That question lit me up – and changed my life. It was my catalyst for pursuing voiceover.

You can imagine, then, that I *love* working on EFL materials. I’m a CELTA-qualified instructor and I bring that past knowledge and experience to these types of VO projects.

So it just made sense to put together a VO reel focused on this domain. The demo is a mix of published client work and fresh scripts.

If you have any materials for English-language learners that need voicing, please get in touch!

Happy New Year, friends! Are you hyped and ready to crush 2023? Have a holiday hangover and moving slowly? Somewhere in between?

I’m excited about the year ahead, but not necessarily coming in hot out the gate. I truly took some down time over the holidays. Lots of Netflix, cat-play time, friend dates, and sleeping in, so it’s going to take a bit to get back to a 100% productive routine. 😅

Was happy to see my Blinkist narration for Michelle Obama’s “The Light We Carry” is the Blink of the day today! It’s free to listen to until midnight ET tonight.

If you have 18 minutes to spare and need a little encouragement to keep doing the work, you might want to take a listen.

Wishing you all a magical year ahead.
