Moksananda

Moksananda ‘El artista es siempre anarquista’, Lorca. The ordinary becomes significant and the transcendent manifests as the concrete and immediate.

I like to think of works of art as what the ancient Celts called 'thin places' - places where the veil between 'the sacred' and the mundane is so thin that they touch. In the end they are not distinct. To explore, dwell in and honour this truth is why I paint and do what I do. My deepest wish is to share it with others.

‘The creative mind’ 2026

This new trilogy explores the creative process, as I experience it at least. It is part of the series I am developing based on the form of the vessel, bowl, the crucible or container and their multiple cultural and spiritual associations.

The creative process is about openness and receptivity. It is about integration, connecting the heights and depths, transformation. And it is about bringing forth, giving back and offering up something new

It is about a way of being.

‘Attention to feeling i & ii’ 2026
acrylic, charcoal and pastel on canvas
73 x 60cm

These recent paintings are part of an on-going series arising from a personal inquiry into the experience of holding polarities without seeking to resolve them: activity and stillness, certainty and uncertainty, control and surrender, self and other, now and then. Painting becomes a space in which these forces can coexist and transform, not through synthesis or premature resolution, but through sustained attention - in this case, attention to feeling.

In a time marked by acceleration, over-definition, polarisation, and the constant search for certainty, this body of work proposes a form of quiet resistance: an invitation to remain with ambiguity and to accept complexity without reducing it. The series as a whole does not aim to represent a stable idea of harmony, but to open the possibility of an emerging harmony—one that arises precisely from the coexistence of difference.
