Pakilus virš debesų – lengva svajoti (mąstau 12-os kilometrų aukščio danguje). Skrisdama svarstau, kodėl. Gal kad danguje laiko ir erdvės ašys tampa punktyrinėmis, jei ne išvis nematomomis. Tai leidžia pasąmonei ir protui klajoti po kamuoliniais debesimis užgultus kompasinius troškimus. Save ir pasaulį galima vaizduotis laisviau. Ir arčiau.

Mano kompasas jau kurį laiką sukas į rytus, link tarp šešėlių besislapstančios ir tekančios Japonijos – vandenynais, upėmis, lietumis, terminėmis versmėmis.

Nors paauglystėje žodis „Japonija“ kėlė atmetimo reakciją (nes asociavosi su vienintele mūsų kartai lengvai prieinama Japonijos kultūros dalimi – anime ir manga, kurie nesudomino), bėgant laikui, Japonija ėmė traukti per savo slėpiningą būvį, išvirstantį į (to krašto) pasaulio ir savęs pajautimą. Vėliau – ir suvokimą.

Prieš kelionę dar kartą perskaičiau lietuviškai leidyklos „Lapas“ išleistą knygą „Odė šešėliams“ (Jun'ichirō Tanizaki) ir perklausiau LRT laidos „Penki kilometrai“ epizodą su kino kritiku, kinotyrininku, rašytoju Narium Kairiu. Deja, jo neseniai pasirodžiusios knygos „Yura yura. 88 šventyklų kelias“ („Rašytojų sąjungos“ leidykla) perskaityti nespėjau – ji lauks manęs Vilniuje. Tačiau labai patiko įtraukios autoriaus mintys bei pasidalinimai.

Exciting news from the design desk!

Currently working on a BRANDING project for Menų agentūra Artscape and their Mentorship Programme, empowering artists with refugee backgrounds to develop their artistic and cultural ideas here in Lithuania.

We recently unveiled the first visual (an OPEN CALL visual) for the program, inspired by the slogan "Connected by Culture."

Nature holds the same significance for me as the chef-d'oeuvre of human minds and hands - culture (with cities as its habitat). It provides me with materials and topics for creative exercises. Like this creativity’s muscle stretch.

Moreover, it offers a direct pathway to recharge my vitality and renew all resources - emotional, psychological, and physical - - -

The Break Fellowship Experience 📖 🇪🇸

I am excited to share that I, as a graphic designer, illustrator, and visual artist, have been selected for The Break Fellowship, an entrepreneurship fellowship program designed to create and empower a strong, women-led business ecosystem across the EU.

Following online classes, meetings, and 1:1 mentorship during the summer, along with an opening event in Madrid at the end of September where 370 women (selected from 4000 applicants) embarked on this incredible journey, we all set out for 22 different places and communities across Spain. I, along with 17 other fellows, headed to Agaete, Gran Canaria, with Pueblos Remotos as our host organisation.

I am very grateful for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and especially for those 17 incredible women by my side who reside here with me in Gran Canaria. They inspire me every single day to grow on multiple levels, both personally and professionally.

Cannot wait to share more insights from this journey!

On Monday, the Lithuanian city of Kaunas was listed as a UNESCO site for its modernist architectural heritage, spanning from 1919 to 1939. Thank you to the entire Lithuanian expert team whose years of hard work and dedication made this possible!

This is one more reason to visit Lithuania (and me!).

Right behind me stands one of Kaunas' most iconic modernist heritage buildings, and it happens to be my favorite – the House of Iljinai family (1933, designed by architect Arnas Funkas).

In the second picture, you can see my interior details, which are an interpretation of this building. They are the result of a year-long project commissioned by Kaunas 2022 Modernizmas ateičiai to Laura Serra and Maxime Forest, co-founders of "Kolektiv Cité Radieuse". A group exhibition featuring all interpretations of Kaunas modernism was held in the very same house (Blank Page Studio) last autumn.

Kaunas Modernism serves as my eternal inspiration for creativity and exploration.
