The choir has seen a number of musical directors and accompanists in its 40+, yes 40+ years of singing in the Teulada-Moraira area. In the more recent years, Heather Butcher as our accompanist, together with MD’s Jo Baldwin and Jan Gardner-Brown all have played their important part in developing the choir to where we ar
e today. As we now get ready for the next chapter in The English Choir’s journey we are delighted to welcome back Kirsty Glen to the position of accompanist and John Edwards as our new Musical Director. We know these two talented individuals will continue to encourage and develop the very best from our Choir members, and in turn allow us to perform for you, our valuable followers, at the most enjoyable level. The choir prides itself on a wide and varied repertoire and is never afraid to try something new to add to a programme. Our performances are many and varied: singing as part of the Moors and Christians celebrations both in the church and on the castle battlements during the re-enactment fiestas in Moraira is always a great honour and gives so much pleasure. We sang for the British Legion at their 90th anniversary celebrations in Alicante and also sung in the Teulada Concert Hall on a number of occasions with other local choirs. Our Christmas events have included singing in the village square in Lliber competing with the ponies and geese, supporting the Teulada-Moraira Lions Club in Moraira church square, singing at the switch-on of the Christmas lights in Teulada town square and our fabulous sell-out concerts in Moraira Church, always a wonderful atmosphere enjoyed by choir and audience. We also try and add to our calendar some time for a concert at the Teulada Alzheimer’s Society, which is one of our chosen charities to support from the valuable donations our loyal family, friends & followers bestow - our sincere thanks to you all!
