✨ Jano, el dios de los comienzos y los finales ✨
En la antigua Roma, el paso de un año a otro no era solo una fecha: era un umbral.
Y ningún dios lo representaba mejor que Jano (Ianus).
Jano es una divinidad exclusivamente romana. Se le representaba con dos rostros, mirando en direcciones opuestas:
uno hacia el pasado, otro hacia el futuro.
Era el dios de:
los comienzos y los finales
las puertas (ianua)
los pasos de un estado a otro
el tiempo que se transforma
Por eso, el primer mes del año, Ianuarius (enero), llevaba su nombre.

✨ Janus, the god of beginnings and endings ✨
In ancient Rome, the passage from one year to the next was not just a date: it was a threshold.
And no god represented it better than Janus (Ianus).
Janus is a uniquely Roman deity, with no direct equivalent in Greek mythology. He was depicted with two faces, looking in opposite directions:
one toward the past, the other toward the future.
He was the god of:
beginnings and endings
doors (ianua)
transitions from one state to another
time in transformation
That is why the first month of the year, Ianuarius (January), bears his name.
