Sorry for the rant, but I had to laugh.
Someone commented on one of my TikTok videos calling us an overpriced kip.
I'm currently sitting in Mallorca and it's reminding me yet again how little some people actually know about prices outside Lanzarote.
Local beer here is €4-€5, breakfast is around €12, and as you can see from the photo, a 500g T-bone steak is €25.90.
Meanwhile, at Wayne's Steakhouse we're serving a 1000g T-bone for less than that, and we still get people moaning that we're expensive.
Now, I completely understand that some people are on a budget. That's life. But there's a big difference between being on a budget and being a cheapskate.
Too many people book a holiday on the cheap, literally starve themselves and spend the whole week hunting for the lowest priced pint on the island, then suddenly become experts on what local businesses should be charging, while they haven't got a bleeding clue about anything.
The truth is Lanzarote is still one of the best value holiday destinations you'll find. If you genuinely think it's expensive, I'd suggest getting out and seeing a bit more of the world before throwing around words like "overpriced."
Spend a week somewhere like Cala d'Or, Mallorca and you'll come back with a whole new appreciation for what you've got. Or at the very least, you'll stop crying over the price of a pint.
