1/10 ‘Odisea’ by Mauri on stonesthrow - sunny AOR vibes, feels like one of those lost golden Japanese boogie records from the 80s
2/10 ‘Salir Del Agujero’ by El Caléfon on Athens of the North - perfect summer soundtrack.. soft rock / reggae..reminds me of The Police but with a Latin touch! Shout out to Julian Reca whose uncle is one of the original band members!
3/10 ‘Themes For Dreams’ by Resavoir on L’univers - if you need something ultra calming, this is it. Pure magic
4/10 ‘Mess/age/2’ by on Andrew Morgan - trippy, lofi, soulful beats & Japanese rap, Kyoto funk!
5/10 ‘Certainty Beyond Logic’ by Yahya aka Constantine Weir - this one genuinely touches the soul on a profound level. ‘People Power Pt. 1’ is also the ultimate song for the moment
6/10 ‘Temegsen’ by on ʙʀᴏᴡɴsᴡᴏᴏᴅ ʀᴇᴄᴏʀᴅɪɴɢs - a beautiful celebration and reimagining of Ethiopian music for the future
7/10 ‘The Pleasure is yours’ by GENA aka Liv.e & Karriem Riggins on Lex Records - echoes of Dilla and Liv.e compliments them perfectly
8/10 ‘Good Intentions’ by pronounced ‘eh-go’ 🕊 on Believe - another future jazz / neo soul classic with Ego’s dreamy voice
9/10 ‘Onda Biloba’ by Manny Whodamanny on Periodica Records - great fun..very Pikes! This also led me to discover the story and music of Locomía
10/10 ‘The Embers EP’ by klashandbrown on Marc Lee Brown - feels like that familiar sound system vibe, but it’s genuinely different, really stands out
