1/10 ‘Tuff Times Never Last’ by on - Effortlessly blending jazz / funk / disco / afrobeat / highlife, but this album also had a distinctly fresh, street soul, London feel to it

2/10 ‘10’ by on - My favourite SAULT album to date (their 12th since 2019!)

3/10 ‘24 Hour Sports’ by on - Psychedelic soul, head nodding beats, and a global touch thanks to collaborations with Rogê (Brazil), Florence Adooni (Ghana), and Shintaro Sakamoto (Japan)

4/10 ‘Debbie Gaskin & Eternal Love Combo’ by Debbie Gaskin on - Divine Caribbean soul / reggae / calypso & more, ‘Traffic’ is absolutely stunning

5/10 ‘Sorry I thought you were someone else’ by on - I could happily bounce around to this floaty goodness late at night & equally enjoy it while walking through a forest during the day

6/10 ‘Possessions’ by .bokhari_ on - Laid back and Lofi, with breezy, wonky synths, guitar and a city pop vibe. Beautifully emoish in all the right places

7/10 ‘Flowers’ by on - A modern soul classic, deeply soothing but also has some serious grooves

8/10 ‘July Blue Skies’ by & on - As suitable for blue skies as it is for stargazing. ‘Venus Of Barsoon’ sounds like a peak Wu-Tang / RZA production

9/10 ‘Exile’ by on - Uplifting Roots, with that distinctly warm, organic, Inflo touch

10/10 ‘Heartache in Room 14’ by on - This old soul revival keeps giving, and the Altons are an amazing addition. Their Chicano flavoured music sounds like it’s straight out of the 60’s

Albums on heavy rotation 🎶🌀

1/10 Debbie Gaskin & Eternal Love Combo on - beautiful soul / soca / calypso / reggae and more from this incredible artist from Barbados. She started singing relatively late (in her 40’s), proof that it really is never too late.

2/10 ‘Oud For Palestine’ by .silbak - Palestinian folkloric classics reimagined by the Oud player and composer alongside double bass and percussion..he has several dates lined up in London this month if you want to catch him 🇵🇸

3/10 ‘Exile’ by on - roots reggae at its best. Uplifting, sunny with that lovely warm organic sound

4/10 ‘Street Soul Brasil 1987-1995’ on - from 2019 but I only just discovered it through the vinyl repress…it’s ridiculously good. Vinyl only but well worth buying a record player for.

5/10 ‘Heavy Combination 1966-2007’ by on - excellent introduction to this legend of Kenyan music…full of catchy highlife guitar riffs and is seriously funky

6/10 ‘Chicken On Bike’ by on - so much to love about Olana’s music. The message is powerful, but it’s delivered with humour and with top production from the likes of

7/10 ‘Pequena Vertigem de Amor’ by .sessa.sessa on - best way to start (or end) the day at the moment for me is this album. Gentle and warm

8/10 ‘Neon Castle’ on - another gem compiled by - mid 80s female-fronted ambient folk - ideal winter soundtrack

9/10 ‘Napoletanite’ by on - Napoli’s latest supergroup, comprised of members of & - banging Mediterranean funk and disco

10/10 ‘The Universe Smiles Upon You II’ by on - new renditions of their first album. The album I didn’t think I needed but am definitely happy I bought

3/10 ‘White Rabbit’ by on - thank you for putting me on to this..1972 Jazz funk masterpiece with a little Latin salsa. 🐰

4/10 ‘Light Patterns’ by .mccormick.manchester & David Horridge on - dreamy ambient guitar bliss. “Put the album on, lie back and enter the land of no floors”. ✨

5/10 ‘Possessions’ by .bokhari_ on - timely arrival of this post punk bittersweet boogie from the Bangkok-born, Vancouver based producer. If you like Jack J, you’ll definitely dig this 💥

6/10 ‘Around The World’ by on laid back lo-fi beats, inspired by the melting pot of his hometown Casablanca 🗺️

7/10 ‘A Selection Of Music From Libyan Tapes’ from - maybe my favourite HF release yet. Full of reggae, disco, and Balearic bangers, with cover versions of Bob Marley, Pink Floyd, and Londonbeat! 🫣

8/10 ‘Get Naked & Fly’ by on - winning the value for money award, such a great dynamic offering of tunes. I can totally imagine DJ Harvey dropping ‘Get Naked & Fly’ in Freddies, crowd goes wild..but every track is special. It really has something for all kinds of dancefloors: Afro Boogie, hypnotic grooves, disco stompers and a dirty electro remix from ☄️

9/10 ‘Tuff Times Never Last’ by on Probably my album of the year, never leaves my record bag. They go from strength to strength, widening their sound, but it’s always them! ❤️

10/10 ‘Flowers’ by on - the purest kind of soul..made for summer but will equally be perfect to get cozy to over winter. 💐

TOGETHER FOR PALESTINE AT WEMBLEY ARENA 🇵🇸 (still blows my mind to say/hear those words)…my heart is truly full. We grieved collectively, but we also celebrated the culture, and there is still so much hope! It really felt like a watershed moment. 🍉

There were literally so many magical performances I don’t know where to start..but obvs seeing with & was unreal..scintillating performances by (whose voice reminds me of Fairuz) & who was joined by for a rendition of 7 seconds!

But it wasn’t just the musicians, it was also the contributions from the heroes who have spoken up for Palestine which were also so special. What a joy to be able to show them some love…The long ovation .albanese.unsr.opt got before she even opened her mouth, the rousing speeches of Palestinian journalists like Palestinian doctors like .ghassan.as ❤️ not forgetting of course and 😮

Need to take a minute and show some love to my brother the ultimate guy behind the guy, who quietly / gracefully / humbly spearheaded the whole project. I vividly remember him telling me about the idea in its early stages and thinking ‘that’s crazy, but if anyone can do it, it’s you!’. He’s always been that guy, not scared of anything and his courage and bravery is a genuine inspiration to all of us. Happy Birthday James! 😘🙌 also MASSIVE love to and for curating such a wonderful blend of music 🙏

Giving these musicians, artists and activists a platform, encouraging more people to speak up without fear, THAT is magic. And this is a movement that will grow and grow until Palestine is free ❤️💚🖤

When I first heard about last year, I’m not going to lie, I was a bit cynical about it. ‘Yeah right where is there a Wadi Rum type desert in ibiza?! How are they going to play loud music outdoors, when nowadays you can barely fart without a limiter crushing your soul or the sound police turning up?!’ 💨

But I was oh so wrong! Although I wasn’t able to go myself, by all accounts it was one of the parties of the season.

And now it’s back! And I’m delighted to be a part of this great lineup..can’t wait to bring my desert island sounds to the party..tickets are available on dice now! (link in bio) 🐪✨
