BARÓ was founded by María Baró in 1999 and currently it is formed by its founder and Enno R. The gallery program has become a point of reference for international art in the Brazilian art scenes and, at the same time, has crossed borders, projecting Latin American art to other latitudes. Also, it has participated in numerous art fairs such as Miami Basel, Armony- NY, ArtBO, ArtBA, Sp-Arte, ArtRio,

MACO-México, Arco- Madrid, ArtDubai, Frienze NY, Frieze Masters, among others. After twenty years in Latin America, BARÓ propused to expand its activities to the European continent, starting with the creation of the BARÓ House program ( Madrid, Spain ) as an experimental space for the encounter between creators, thinkers and collectors. In 2021, BARÓ Gallery gives birth to BARÓ Lisbon and BARÓ Mallorca. The first operates as a space for dissemination, projection and consulting, through programs such as BARÓ INsiTU, a platform for the development and production of contemporary art projects adapted to a specific architectual or landscape enviroment; a facilitating agency between artists, collectors, companies and institutions that promotes the integration of Site Specific works in public or private collections. The second, BARÓ Mallorca, initiating a new stage for BARÓ, inaugurated a new venue offering for the rapprochement between Europe and the Américas, as well as a part of the rich artistic panorama offered by the Mediterranean. BARÓ gallery, as a center for the arts, has been striving to allow the expression and diffusion of contemporary art languages, and has also become a facilititing entity between artists, institutions and collectors.

Lygia Clark takes part in the 16th Gwangju Biennale, “You Must Change Your Life,” a project led by Artistic Director Ho Tzu Nyen alongside curators Che Kyongfa, Park Gahee, and Brian Kuan Wood, with works on view at the Gwangju Biennale Exhibition Hall through November 15, 2026. The exhibition brings together 43 artists and collectives across generations and geographies, positioning Clark alongside historical figures such as Tehching Hsieh and Július Koller. Among the works on display, replicas of her iconic Bichos series, hinged aluminum sculptures created from 1960 onward, invite visitors to touch, fold, and reshape the pieces by hand, activating the sensory and participatory experience that has always been central to the artist’s practice.

Latent takes its name from a phenomenon witnessed twice a year inside Palma Cathedral, light revealing what was always there.
A resonance with VHILS’ own process: an existing surface, its layers removed, until something dormant becomes visible.

His debut exhibition with Baró opens September 19 at Baró Mallorca, on the occasion of La Nit de l’Art. We look forward to welcoming you!

Curated by Aldones Nino and Bruna Levi, Devorações do Amanhã – Brasil em Rebento is inspired by the concept of Brazilian Anthropophagy, proposing “devouring” as a critical strategy for imagining new futures through transformation, resistance, and cultural exchange.

Running from 5 September to 15 November 2026, the 16th Gwangju Biennale brings together artists and curators from around the world under the artistic direction of Ho Tzu Nyen. Baró Talks: Ayako Rokkaku

In this episode, the artist reflects on how she navigates the space between abstraction and representation in her work, and why the distinction matters less than it seems.

Her debut exhibition, “Playful, Stormy, Continuing,” opens this Wednesday, the 19th, from 6pm at Taller Zaragoza, São Paulo.

Pagan Tales: The Golden Moon by Estevan Davi unfolds as a constellation of works conceived as independent episodes, connected through a shared symbolic field. References to diverse belief systems and mythologies emerge throughout the exhibition and are approached as living structures that continue to shape narratives of life, death, desire, and the sacred.

On view at Baró Mallorca until 5 September 2026
We look forward to welcoming you.
