Mula's patron saint festivities, with nicely dressed-up people flocking in from throughout the region and lining up streets and squares, seemed like the perfect scenario for our last Open Day to exhibit the actions proposed in our KAIRÓS Integrated Action Plan. Lots of encouraging positive reactions.

Our lead partner city of Mula (ES) proudly advanced its Integrated Action Plan for its historic upper quarters, the so-called Barrios Altos.

The Plan was presented by three of the key players in the project, namely the architect who drafted the plan and the city councillors for urbanism and local development.

All three insisted that heritage-led urban regeneration should always encompass the revitalisation of the social fabric and liveability in these emblematic areas. However, revitalisation also requires investment in structural rehabilitation and reconstruction. This is why the presented Plan will be both a roadmap and a persuasive tool to capture the needed funding.

KAIRÓS is coming to an end in Cesena...

But more than a conclusion, it is the beginning of something new!!

The station area is in a ferment of planning and regeneration and together with the ULG we have designed 12 actions to strengthen the regeneration process that will happen in the upcoming years. We have today taken stock of the funding and activities that will profoundly transform the area in the coming period.
👉 10 million Euro from the Next Generation Funds of the EU for moving the bus area. A design competition is now open to guide the project
👉 2.3 million Euro for the redevelopment of the former Le Fricò, of which 1.5 million intercepted by the Region and the employment centre
👉 Realisation of a bike station, through a programme agreement with RFI, which will invest 1 million in the redevelopment of the former freight yard building, to which will be added a municipal contribution of 500,000 Euro
In addition to these major investments, there is also the necessary collaboration with local stakeholders and those working and living in the station area, from high schools, to the faculty of architecture, to the faculty of psychology...

A path that has highlighted a network of present and active players with whom we have teamed up and with whom we will also collaborate in the future to make the station area increasingly lively, attractive, accessible and safe.

Experiences from the KAIRÓS project presented at the World City Forum
(WUF11)

On the last day of the World Urban Forum ( ), projects funded by the URBACT programme were discussed in a panel organised by the Association of Polish Cities. The
exchanges focused in particular on the sustainable development of Polish cities. Monika Sasin and Marta Borowiec from the
Development Projects Department of the Municipality shared their experiences of our project.
They focused in particular on the activities developed by the URBACT Local Group and underlined the benefits of participating in this type of projects.

The City of Malbork at the World Urban Forum (WUF11)!

Monika Sasin and Marta Borowiec from our partner city of took part in the World Urban Forum in on 29 June 2022.

During the panel entitled "Sustainable Urban Development and Cities' Partnership Initiative" organised by the Polish Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy and the Polish URBACT Contact Point Polish URBACT initiatives such as the Partnership Initiative of Cities and Revitalization Network were presented. Malbork is the only city in Poland, which used the opportunity to gain experience in the field of revitalization and cultural heritage. As a result of the cooperation the city has realised the project entitled "Dispersed Business Incubator" and is participating in the project project.
