**95%+ so far this year!** 😳

I’ve noticed that the vast majority of drinks bills are now being paid by credit or debit card.

**PLEASE, if you can, try to pay your drinks bill with cash.** 💷

And just to be absolutely clear — **this is NOT about avoiding tax.** Every sale is recorded and accounted for properly. The reason I’m asking is simply to avoid paying a percentage of every transaction to the card/payment companies. Those fees might seem small on each individual transaction, but when you add them up over hundreds and thousands of payments, they soon become a significant cost to a business.

I completely understand that paying by card can feel safer, easier and more convenient. But if we keep moving further and further towards a cashless society, we have to ask ourselves what happens when **cash eventually disappears altogether.**

And looking at the trend over the last few years, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if physical cash becomes extremely difficult to use — or perhaps even disappears — within the next five years.

**That’s why cash is still king. 👑💷**

Cash gives people **choice, freedom and independence.** It doesn’t require a bank, a card machine, an internet connection or a payment system to be working. Once you hand over cash, the transaction is complete.

There are also plenty of people who rely on cash for budgeting, and many who simply don’t want every single purchase tracked electronically.

Most importantly, **if we stop using cash, businesses will have less reason to keep accepting it.** The more we use it, the more we help keep it alive.

I’m not saying *never* use your card — of course not. I’m simply asking that, **when you have the choice, consider paying with cash.**

Because once physical cash is gone, **getting it back may not be an option.**

Personally, I think that would be a real shame for **lots and lots of reasons.**

**KEEP CASH ALIVE! 💷❤️**
