Important Notice: Storm Preparedness in Malaga Province Starting November 13
As a new storm approaches Malaga province in the early hours of Wednesday 13th of November, we are sealing, securing and sandbagging to help minimize potential storm damage.
Here is your Flood Warning checklist
1. Secure Doors and Windows:
Close all windows and doors securely, and remove any loose items outside that could be swept away by wind or water.
2. Seal Windows:
Check and seal any windows that may be prone to water leakage.
3. Clear Drains and Gutters:
Ensure all drains, gutters, downspouts, and sewer outlets (particularly in garages, patios, terraces, and rooftops) are clean and free of debris to prevent blockages. Clear any items that might obstruct the sewage system.
4. Remove Window Flowerpots:
If you live in a building, remove any flowerpots from window ledges.
5. Check Water Pumps:
Verify that water extraction pumps in basements and garages are functioning properly.
6. Inspect Roofs:
Ensure roofs and tiles are in good condition to prevent detachment due to strong winds.
7. Avoid Metal Structures:
Refrain from staying near metal structures, as they may loosen or become unstable.
8. Secure Antennas and Scaffolding:
Make sure that TV antennas and scaffolding are securely fastened, and keep all awnings retracted to avoid water pooling or wind damage.
9. Turn Off Electricity if Water Enters:
In case water begins to enter your home, turn off electricity at the main breaker to prevent short circuits.
10. Prepare for Power Outages: Have spare batteries and portable mobile phone chargers on hand in case of an extended power outage.
11. Inspect Damage Only After Weather Clears:
Do not check for damage until you are certain that the storm has passed.
Stay safe and dry 🙏🏼
