I prefer to make the viewers feel....
Colour is the language of my soul and In a world where so much darkness exists, I choose to be a light of positivity. Inspiration and ideas change. Knowledge changes. If a viewer stops for just a moment to view and reflect on a piece I have created, then I have succeeded in my work. Colour plays a very important part in my work. Some artists like to make view
ers think. I draw my inspiration from life around me. Nature is my greatest muse, and it greatly influences the art I create. Whether it be flowers, animals, the glorious changing of the seasons, a sunset, the ocean, the phases of the moon... the inspiration is endless. My paintings are created based on scenes I’ve witnessed, moments I’ve experienced, or I want to express. I keep sketchbooks of quick scribbles, poetry, inspirational quotes, photographs and many images that speak to me. I use these as reference points when creating a painting. Acrylic is a material of choice for me because of its rich, thick texture and quick dry, especially as I like to dry brush. Painting many, many layers became my technique for contrasting light and dark, pattern and texture. It is also a very peaceful and meditative activity for me on a personal level. I become totally immersed in that particular piece of work, touching and feeling .. Injecting energy...Life. There’s no better feeling than being at ‘one’ with an art piece I am creating. My future aspirations include licensing my art, teaching workshops, curating public exhibitions for my work. But my greatest aspiration will always be to continue expressing and celebrating the colours of my soul and inspiring others to do the same.
