From drawing to embroidery.

Mareen observed Pep Carrió’s botanical drawings closely, extracting the line, texture and hand-drawn irregularities that give them their character.
These became the base for embroidery tests on fabric.

Since 2007, Pep Carrió has kept a daily drawing practice.

One drawing a day. A record of forms, thoughts, figures, plants, animals, objects, and fragments that return over time.

For Mareen, these diaries became the first place to look.

What could Mareen and Pep Carrió make together?

The answer came through looking: at the objects Pep keeps, the fragments he returns to, and the work that stays open over time.

That led us to Pep’s daily diaries, the first direction for Artist Edition 1.

Pep Carrió can be understood as a creator in the original Latin sense of *auctor*: someone who makes things grow, sprout and emerge.

His work is built through search. One thing leads to another; an image to an object, an object to a memory, a memory to a new relation.

For him, being is not enough. A thing has to appear, take its place, and become present.

Pep Carrió puede entenderse como creador en el sentido original latino de *auctor*: alguien que hace crecer, brotar y aparecer las cosas.

Su trabajo se construye a través de la búsqueda. Una cosa conduce a otra; una imagen a un objeto, un objeto a un recuerdo, un recuerdo a una nueva relación.

Para él, existir no basta. Una cosa tiene que aparecer, ocupar su lugar y hacerse presente.

A visual artist, illustrator and graphic designer whose work moves between drawing, objects, memory and recurring forms.

This collaboration studies his visual world and carries it into pieces to be worn, held and lived with.

Artista visual, ilustrador y diseñador gráfico, su trabajo se mueve entre el dibujo, los objetos, la memoria y las formas recurrentes.
