Notes from Istanbul 🕌🇹🇷
—
It sounds dumb, but something I realized recently was that the reason I haven’t been motivated to make dance content as much lately is because I haven’t been obsessed with dance like I used to be.
They used to go hand-in-hand. I was going to classes, practicing, training, going to socials multiple times a week, etc. and that would naturally inspire the content.
But these days I’ve been leaning into other interests, whether that be traveling, exploring, watching F1 and baseball, movies, playing padel, learning languages, and focusing on my new relationship and move to Europe.
When I dance, I just don’t have the same hunger to keep getting better or the same drive to set goals. Tbh, I’ve never really liked performing and training feels like a grind for the incremental progress that used to feel like leaps and bounds.
Even social dancing feels like diminishing returns, because you get more picky with the music and with partners and making the effort to go out just doesn’t feel as worth it or fun as it used to be. You start wanting more quality over quantity.
Idk, maybe I’m just in a slump and the spark will come back when I put my focus on it again.
But honestly I kinda wish I was more intentional on my trip about getting content I could use for other types of more general posts like travel, culture, relationships, etc. It just sort of hit me that I can do that and not just go ghost on here completely.
So yea, don’t be surprised if you start seeing that 😂
