Feature Speaker, Lucía Asué Mbomío Rubio

Lucía is a Spanish journalist and writer. She has directed documentaries and worked for TVE1, Antena 3, TeleMadrid, and Equatorial Guinea's TV. Recognized by Thomson Reuters as a top Afro-European and highlighted by El País as a notable African woman, she writes for Ctxt, Píkara, Afroféminas, and El País ("Barrionalismos").

Her works include "Las que se atrevieron," "Tranquilas," and "Hija del camino." She also reports for TVE's "Aquí la Tierra" and is an active public speaker.

Meet Rosalind Williams, our honored guest for the Juneteenth 2024 Celebration! 🌟

Rosalind's courageous stand against racial profiling led her to bring her case before the European Court of Human Rights and the United Nations Human Rights Committee. Her story has significantly shaped policing practices in Spain.

“Spain, like many European countries, is already a multi-racial society in which cohabit a non-negligible number of people of other races. These people are both non-nationals in a regular situation and Spanish nationals. That fact alone should exclude the inclusion of race as a selection criterion for police migration controls, considering its predictable negative effects on human dignity.”

Juneteenth Global was founded in the wake of the Covid-19 Pandemic in 2020 by Erin Corine Johnson to celebrate African American ancestry and freedom.
