65 guantes de francotirador de la antigua RDA y del ejército alemán, cosidos a mano y rellenos con prendas recicladas, conforman esta instalación inmersiva que nos enfrenta a una pregunta incómoda: ¿quién es realmente responsable cuando estalla un conflicto?
A través del movimiento y la participación involuntaria del espectador, WAR HITS ALL cuestiona la idea de que la guerra sucede siempre en otro lugar. En un mundo profundamente interconectado, sus consecuencias atraviesan fronteras, generaciones y realidades sociales, alcanzándonos incluso cuando decidimos no intervenir.
Los guantes abiertos evocan la repetición cíclica de la historia y nos recuerdan que pasado, presente y futuro están inevitablemente entrelazados. Una obra que transforma al visitante en protagonista de una reflexión urgente sobre la responsabilidad colectiva, la indiferencia y el impacto global de nuestras decisiones........................

Composed of 65 sniper gloves from the former GDR and the German army, hand-sewn and filled with recycled garments, this immersive installation confronts us with an unsettling question: who is truly responsible when conflict erupts?
Through movement and the viewer’s involuntary participation, WAR HITS ALL challenges the notion that war happens somewhere else. In an increasingly interconnected world, its consequences cross borders, generations, and social realities, affecting us even when we choose not to act.
The open gloves evoke the cyclical repetition of history, reminding us that past, present, and future are inseparably linked. A powerful work that transforms the visitor into an active participant in a reflection on collective responsibility, indifference, and the far-reaching impact of our choices.

Técnica: Conjunto cosido a mano de cuellos procedentes de camisas, jerséis y batas usadas y con historia.
Dimensiones aproximadas: 4 m de ancho × 2,5 m de profundidad. Variables y adaptables a distintos espacios.

Armadura de Sol reúne una multitud de cuellos amarillos para formar un vestido suspendido que irradia calidez, protección y energía positiva. Cada cuello pertenece a lo que la artista Alex Hug denomina “las personas amarillas”: individuos que transmiten luz, optimismo y amabilidad.

Concebida como un refugio personal, la obra invita al público a introducir la cabeza a través de sus aberturas y descubrir las historias contenidas en las prendas. Al emerger, el espectador contempla la pieza en su totalidad y forma parte de un mosaico de memorias compartidas.

Armadura de Sol brings together a multitude of yellow collars to form a suspended dress radiating warmth, protection, and positive energy. Each collar belongs to what artist Alex Hug calls “yellow people” — individuals who spread light, optimism, and kindness.

Originally conceived as a personal refuge, the work invites viewers to place their heads through its openings and discover the stories embedded within the garments. Emerging on the other side, they encounter the piece as a whole and become part of a shared mosaic of memories.

La obra de Alex Hug convierte la materia —guantes, mangas, prendas vividas— en un lenguaje emocional que activa el espacio y lo carga de memoria.

Entre lo íntimo y lo colectivo, sus esculturas hablan de un presente atravesado por tensión, violencia y fragilidad compartida.

En War Hits All y Problems, el movimiento pendular refleja un mundo en constante amenaza. La distancia deja de existir: todo termina alcanzándonos.

En Social Anxiety (Hug Station #13), el abrazo se vuelve refugio y contradicción.

Armadura de Sol abre un espacio de calma y resistencia.

En Holding Hands, los vínculos aparecen como algo frágil, sostenido y reparado.

Una exposición que no ofrece respuestas, sino experiencias.
El cuerpo como lugar para pensar, resistir y sentir.

In War Hits All and Problems, pendular movement reflects a world in constant threat. Distance dissolves: everything eventually reaches us.

In Social Anxiety (Hug Station #13), the embrace becomes both refuge and contradiction.

Armadura de Sol opens a moment of calm and resistance.

In Holding Hands, human bonds appear fragile, held, and continuously repaired.
An exhibition that offers no answers—only experiences.

The body as a site to think, resist, and feel.

"Mi práctica interdisciplinaria como escultora textil, creadora de instalaciones y performer busca conectar al público a través del tacto y los sentidos. Mis “esculturas vivientes” cobran vida mediante la performance, invitando a la interacción, la reflexión y la emoción. A través de materiales abandonados, prendas y textiles en desuso, exploro temas como la guerra, la salud mental, el cambio climático y la lucha feminista, transformando objetos cargados de memoria en herramientas de conexión humana, introspección y sanación emocional. Obras como Hug Stations y War Hits All abordan la pérdida, la empatía y nuestra relación con los conflictos contemporáneos, invitando al espectador a participar activamente en la experiencia artística. Creo en el arte como un catalizador de cambio social, capaz de tender puentes donde existen divisiones y de inspirar formas de vida más sostenibles y conscientes."

"My interdisciplinary practice as a textile sculptor, installation artist and performer seeks to connect audiences through touch and the senses. My “living sculptures” come to life through performance, inviting interaction, reflection and emotion. Working with discarded garments, textiles and found objects, I explore themes such as war, mental health, climate change and feminist struggles, transforming materials filled with memory into tools for human connection, introspection and emotional healing. Works such as Hug Stations and War Hits All address loss, empathy and our relationship with contemporary conflicts, encouraging active participation from the viewer. I believe art can act as a catalyst for social change, building bridges where divisions exist and inspiring more sustainable and conscious ways of living."
