Today we present this new addition to our catalog: this Bodhidharma sculpture in molded marble, reproduction based on traditional Chinese ceramic figure models.

Bodhidharma (called Dámó or Támó in Chinese) was a Buddhist monk of Indian origin who arrived in China during the Liu Song dynasty in the 6th century. He established himself in the Shaolin Monastery and founded the Chan Buddhist school, which later spread to Japan as Zen Buddhism. Bodhidharma is also considered the founder of martial arts such as Kung Fu.

Bodhidharma is often depicted as a bearded man covered in a red robe. In this figurine, he is portrayed with one bare foot peeking out from under the robe and holding a sandal in his hand.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN 3D PRINTING AND MOLDED MARBLE

All our sculptures are made from molded marble, also known as reconstituted marble, never through 3D printers. The molded marble casting process involves marble powder bonded with specific resins (we use cronolite), poured into silicone molds.

Many customers wonder about the differences between a sculpture made with 3D printing and those made with molded marble.

The manufacturing processes of 3D printing and casting with molds using marble powder bonded with resin are two very different processes that result in pieces with distinct characteristics in terms of texture, material, and weight.

This article describes the key differences: https://www.decorarconarte.com/en/blog-en/differences-between-3d-printing-and-molded-marble/

The immortal Don Quixote, a timeless figure

The silhouettes of Don Quixote and his squire Sancho Panza are easily recognisable. We know exactly who they are when we see the image of a slender knight with a peculiar helmet atop a gaunt horse and a peasant on a donkey. The sad figure of the Manchegan nobleman has transcended time and space, influencing literature, music, visual arts, even cinema or Broadway musicals. Four centuries after the publication of the two parts of the novel, its iconic image still accompanies us today.

Our Spanish character par excellence, the immortal Don Quixote, has become a timeless figure that resonates in our collective conscience. He serves as a reminder of the importance of imagination and the constant search for firm and timeless values such as justice and truth in a complex and changing world.

Among the articles we have in our extensive catalog, today we present this relief of Dionysus with Cupid, a reproduction made in molded marble from the work of the Danish artist Thorvaldsen, one of the foremost representatives of Neoclassicism. Bertel Thorvaldsen was a Danish neoclassical sculptor of the 19th century. His works stand out for their elegance and sensitivity, characterized by clarity and purity of lines, as can be seen in this relief.

Thorvaldsen dedicated much of his career to sculpting works that revive mythology and classical culture, as reflected in this relief of Dionysus and Cupid. In this piece, the Danish sculptor represents the god of Love drinking wine from a bowl offered by Dionysus, based on the love lyric poems of the Greek poet Anacreon, inspired by the solace that wine offers to lovers affected by the torments of love.

Thorvaldsen's legacy has endured to this day through works like this relief, transcending the centuries and becoming testimonies to his artistic genius and ability to capture and convey the beauty, timelessness, and sensitivity of classical art.

Buddha Head of Angkor, Serenity and Mystery

One of the most recent additions to our catalog is this reproduction of a Buddha head, inspired by the statues found in the temples of Angkor in Cambodia.

You can purchase the bust at the following link: https://www.decorarconarte.com/en/p/bali-buddha-head-31-cm-copia/

In Khmer art from Angkor, there is an abundance of sculptures depicting divine beings from both Hindu and Buddhist religions. Among them, the images of Buddha stand out, often depicted with a serene and smiling face.

This Buddha head exhibits the typical characteristics of Khmer human representations in art: a smiling face, almond-shaped eyes, well-defined eyebrows often merging into one, and lips with outlined outer edges.

Angkor was the capital of the Cambodian Khmer Empire (9th to 15th centuries AD), which reached its peak during the 12th century. After the decline of Angkor, the vast cities and monastic complexes were abandoned and reclaimed by the jungle until their restoration began in the 20th century by archaeologists, turning it into a major tourist destination in recent decades. Until then, the rest of the constructions had been at the mercy of the elements, with the exception of the Angkor Wat temple, which has been preserved and maintained for centuries by the Buddhist monks who continue to inhabit it today. The image of the ancient stone temples emerging from the Cambodian jungle, with their walls covered in tree roots, is highly evocative and has served as inspiration for numerous television series, movies, and video games.

A sculpture like this Buddha head can inspire us to find a moment of calm and meditation amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life. Placed in a special room, office, or library, it adds a special touch and brings peace and serenity to the environment. Its presence evokes memories of distant lands, strolls through jungle-covered temples, enveloping us in an atmosphere of adventure and exoticism, spirituality, and mystery.

The Veiled Vestal

One of the most evocative sculptures in our art reproduction catalog is this bust of the Veiled Vestal, showcasing the delicate craftsmanship of the veil covering her face. This beautiful piece can bring a touch of mystery and serenity to your favorite places at home: a special piece for the living room, a reading nook in the library, inspiring your workspace while you work or study, or placed on a column in the garden.

This faithful reproduction of Raffaele Monti's Veiled Vestal bust has been handcrafted in our workshops using molded marble (marble dust bonded with resins). Its exquisite finish and the application of aging patinas made from natural earth give it the appearance of a marble statue embellished by the passage of time, making it suitable for outdoor decoration in gardens, patios, and terraces as it can withstand the elements.

The dimensions of this reproduction, 53 cm in height including the base, making it ideal for placement on a pedestal.

You can purchase the bust at the following link:

In this reproduction, we recreate an original work by the 19th-century Italian artist Raffaele Monti, who gained fame in his time for his skill in portraying veiled figures with special subtlety and delicacy. The original sculpture can be admired today in Chatsworth House, Derbyshire, England.

In this work, the artist recreated the figure of a Vestal, a priestess of Ancient Rome. Monti depicted her with a veil, kneeling and holding a bowl with fire in an offering gesture.

The Vestals, "virgines vestales" in Latin, were the guardians of Rome's sacred fire, which was kept in the circular temple of Vesta in the Forum, the ruins of which can still be visited today. Symbols of purity and the continuity of the city, these virgin priestesses played a fundamental role in Roman religion.

The legacy of the Vestals still lingers in memory as one of the most important institutions of Classical Antiquity, representing devotion, purity, and loyalty to the city, a testament to the values that permeated the daily life of ancient Roman civilization.

With this sculpture, we commemorate Ancient Rome, its art, and its values. The Vestals, guardians of the sacred fire, illuminated Rome's history with their dedication and service, remaining a symbol of the deep connection between the divine and our earthly world.

Seize this opportunity and transform your home into a space that recalls the values and beauty of the classical world with art reproductions like this Veiled Vestal bust.

C.-30 a. C.).
