Once upon a time in famous music city, Nashville, I found myself in this very rock and roll moment.

Two incredible female singers on each cheek, BB King’s Blues Club buzzing, lights glowing, and me looking like the king of Tennessee for a moment.

One of those women was Bekka Bramlett of Fleetwood Mac fame.

A true powerhouse.
A voice that can tear paint off the walls.

I was blown away by her performance, so I went back the following week.

She was someone you do not approach lightly.
But let me tell you what really happened behind this photo.

The week before it was taken, encouraged by her drummer, who had played for Ce Lo Green from the iconic Gnarls Barkley song “Crazy”, I walked up to Bekka and asked if I could duet with her on stage.

It was my first time in the legendary Music City, and I was there to make real moves as an emerging Zimbabwean artist.

I was terrified, but I tried.

I said,

“Would it be possible to join you onstage next week?”

She said the band was still getting tight, so maybe later.
I told her I was only in town for one more week.

She paused, smiled, and said,

“Alright Zimbabwe. I like you. You’re a cool dude. Give me your phone.”

As she typed in her email, she casually asked,

“So… are you any good at singing?”

That's where I did the exact thing I now coach men not to do.

I shrank.

I mumbled something humble, apologetic, and small.

The way many of us do when someone places the spotlight on us.

She stopped typing, looked me dead in the face, and said:

“F*** off. Do not waste my time.”

She shoved my phone into my chest.

My whole nervous system went into survival mode.

Freeze.
Panic.
Collapse.

But I knew exactly what was happening.

She was testing my spine.
My belief in myself.
My willingness to take up space, especially if she was going to take a chance on me on such a legendary stage.

So I took a breath and said:

“The thing is, where I come from, we are taught to be humble, but I would not be standing here if I did not know I can bring the goods.”

She stared for a moment, then nodded.

“Fine. Give me the phone again. Email me your music.”

That moment changed me.

It taught me the art of receiving attention without shrinking.
The art of staying present when the pressure rises.
The art of owning my value without collapsing.

🔑 I received a surprise gift from a wonderful soul I’ve been coaching. She recorded a video about her journey with me. I never asked her to. She simply showed up and did it, which in itself is a huge part of her transformation.

You see, a year ago she would never have appeared on camera like this. She would not have spoken openly, let alone shared her story with the world. She was struggling to show up in any sense.

Where did I come from?

Seriously though. Sometimes it feels like I’m not from this planet. On paper, most people wouldn’t believe a man like me exists. I hear that a lot!

Recently in Poland, women were genuinely surprised that I’m an African man in my forties… an international musician, confident, grounded, and still without “various kids with various women.”

The stereotype may be true for some… but I’m living proof you can choose another path and live by different values.

I’ve helped women go from unfulfilling encounters to a depth of intimacy they didn’t even know was possible. The kind that stays in the body for days.

I’ve guided men from being hesitant and disconnected to leading with such presence that their partners light up and respond in ways they’ve only read about in novels.

These aren’t fantasies. This is what happens when we step into our natural potency, lead from a grounded masculine core, and meet our partner with an unwavering presence. It’s not magic, it’s teachable.

We were never taught this. In fact, most of us were shown the opposite. Hollywood, p**n, half-truths and bad advice passed off as wisdom.

The Silence That Ends Marriages

Dear Diary,

It’s day five in Tenerife, and I’m loving my August home. Waking up to blue skies, mountain silhouettes, and a sun-drenched garden is a kind of luxury the soul rejoices over.

Apparently, South Tenerife gets up to 320 days of sunshine a year. It certainly does something to the imagination as possibilities seem to also rise with the warm air.

The expansive sea view from the villa framed by the curvaceous valleys below also offers gifts of an empowering feeling for the day as I continue to prepare for a new life in a brand new location.

Coaching-wise, there’s been a recurring pattern surfacing lately…

More and more, I find myself supporting people who are being left by their long-term partners. Often after years of silence, of feeling stuck, or simmering in disconnect that never quite boils over... until it does.

Kids are often in the mix, along with pain and confusion wrapped in deep, unspoken grief that hasn’t found words yet.

The signs are usually there for a long time.

But the conversation?

Too big to hold.
Too easy to delay.

Often with loaded attempts that just lead to fuses being blown and emotional or physical casualties strewn about the place.

Until one day… someone finally leaves.

It’s strange how much more common this is becoming, and yet still so isolating.

Times have changed and continue to change.

The world has changed.

Divorce isn’t as taboo as it once was though often expensive, financially and emotionally. More people are choosing joy over obligation, but the journey is often long. Worn down by overworking, overspending, overeating. Drowning out discomfort with distraction, which is only often delaying the inevitable.

Here's something that keeps coming up…

Healing begins when the silence breaks.

When someone capable comes in to help map the terrain.

When what seemed like an ending is quietly revealed as a beginning.

Sometimes it’s a beginning with the same partner.
A fresh start, with clearer eyes and deeper truth.

Other times, it’s a soft release.

A letting go.

A chapter closed in gratitude, even when grief still lingers.

What’s harder to witness is how many try to do this alone, or take advice from friends, family or community leaders who, despite their loving intention, may not have the required tools.

It’s like asking the car dealer to rewire their motor electrics just because they’ve sold the vehicle to others before and talk a good game, instead of seeking the engineer who knows how to trace every electric current before offering an actual fix. An effective solution which is often counter-intuitive.

That’s what holistic coaching is.

Skilled listening and a trained mirror.

A safe map and supportive guide.

I'm glad to say… more people in my community are starting to reach out.

Quietly, gently.

Sometimes it begins through the kids, or for the kids. Sometimes through the weight of sleepless nights and unanswered calls. At least the healing conversations and the reaching out for help have begun.

That's always promising. I believe people are inherently good and resilient.

Right, it's now 3:33am and it’s time to wind down before bed.

Here’s to another sunny day ahead full of love and connection, even if from the unsuspecting of places.
