Guy Ge**er still gets anxiety at the top of DJ sets decades into his career: “In general, I totally improvise,” he says, describing performances as emotional journeys where he searches for the right thread in real time.
That edge helped turn Rumors, the party series he launched in Ibiza in 2013, into a global phenomenon and established Chinatown’s Gin Ling Way as a defining outdoor dance music venue in LA.
This Saturday, May 16, marks the 10th anniversary — and final Chinatown edition — of Rumors in LA, with longtime collaborator and joining Ge**er for the sendoff.
Ge**er still resists predictability, preferring gradual emotional movement over tight programming. “I refuse to surrender to that world,” he says.
He's also planning a live show which will arrive in LA later this year, has forayed into visual art, and will soon begin a new residency at Ibiza's Cova Santa. Rumors will be back in LA next year at a new venue with new surprises.
After a decade in Chinatown, Rumors closes this chapter the same journey of uncertainty, discovery and endless grooves.
