Ukulandia Artist-in-Residence 2022

Ukulandia is inviting writers, musicians and artist from all fields, regardless of age or nationality to apply for an artist in residence period of minimum 2 month in the South of spain, Province of Malaga. Ukulandia offers arti

sts, creators or composers the possibility to work and live in the idyllic and impresive environment of the mountains and the 'pueblos Blanca' of Andalusia. Cortes de la Frontera is a lively small town 30 km away of the bigger town Ronda. Cortes is surrounded by 3 Natural Parks: Arconocales, Grazalema and the Sierra de las Nieves. Ukulandia will provide a big Safaritent (5 X 11m) at the bottom of the finca or a very small writershut underneath the house with a big terrace. Send your application to [email protected] together with a portfolio (max. 20 images) containing recent works, processes or projects and a brief artist’s statement or motivation (max 500 words) Don't forget to mention your preferred date to stay and work at Ukulandia.

Time for a new roof! With the last heavy rains of beginning this year it was raining inside as well. So, I started taking of the tiles and reorganise the other roof with the unbroken ones. Planned to do this with someone else, but no luck today yet. Hopefully all is finished when having a party at the 27th of june. You're invited! Also if you want to help me out here!

Dear people,

We, 2 very creative individuals, are looking for likewise creative, ‘Cohabitants/ Caretakers' on our little 'Off Grid' mountain. One person or/and a couple, for several month or whole year round. The mountain of 2,5 hectare has some uncovered possibilities like for example a meditative labyrinth on the heliport to be build. Really in between the mountain on a open spot were the wind blows and the sun rises. This mountain place is supposed to be an 'Artist in Residence' where FREE space is provided.

You are an outdoor person and want to be helpful to make things beautiful. You see the big picture of what could be. You will have some small jobs to do like gardening, maintenance, building and puttering if you like, solving problems when they occur and keeping the place clean and creative. We live the 'Leave no Trace’ principal. Maybe now and then you have to host some guests, but we are not really focussing on short stay holiday-makers. We are focussing on the long-term preservation of this creative, meditative and openminded mountain spot.

We like to focus on a very harmonic, open and peaceful surrounding where you can find rest, creativity and freedom to focus on your own process without disturbing others! Let’s be mindful, honest and flexible. Reconnect to your intuition and find yourself, is a great good. When things on the mountain are more finished, it could be fabulous to organize retreats about connecting to your inner soul and your awareness. This lurking place needs to live on! A new generation will take over and continu the good work after us.

This Off Grid mountain is not for everybody.

Artist in Residence
We rent out the Casita for writers, artists, musicians etc for 350 a month. This is a small room underneath the balcony, of 10m2 with a bathroom 'en suite’ and a small kitchenette. There is a big covered terrace for outdoor working, with a nice small bed for your siesta. The views are incredibly easeful and perfect for developing art.

Surroundings.
The finca is located outside of Cortes de la Frontera, in between 3 natural parks. Arconocales, Grazalema and the Sierra de las Nieves. The winter has been unusual rainy. We need to prepare ourselves for more wet winters. Summer is not too hot but occasionally we experience a heatwave from the Sahara. There are different areas to swim, hike, bike or climb. All shoppings you can do in the village. A bigger nearby & cultural town is Ronda. Unfortunately, the winter flood damaged the train tracks, so trains are not running. There is an early morning bus to Ronda, coming back around 13.30. It is 1 hour drive to the coast of Sabanillas or Estepona.
