The Dragon who Read Ahead
Someone opens the book. And the story repeated itself. All the villagers were scared of the dragon, and were waiting anxiously to see who would be the next sacrifice. The princess was chosen and the King didn't want to put his daughter in danger but she was chosen in the draw so the dragon would have to eat her.
But the dragon was tired and very angry. Not with the village but rather with the story. It was cursed and he had already lived the scenes thousands and thousands of times. He knew it from head to toe and could recognize the same dialogues from memory. But he was scared of changing the story because it represented a very important tradition in Catalunya known as the legend of Sant Jordi.
Every time someone opens the book the story starts again. He always has to play as the bad guy with no other choices. Every time the dragon tried to change something it was in vain. He tried to not attack the village, to not eat anyone, to speak with the knight, but the story forced him to do the same every time.
The dragon was frustrated, he tried every way possible to not be the villain but when the brave knight killed him at the end every time, everyone was happy. He thought his destiny was to be killed again and again for the good of the villagers and that thought depressed him more and more every day.
And the story began again. But this time the dragon was brave and left his fear in the earlier story. He decided to stay in his cave and not be seen. He hid himself in the darkness with the purpose of maintaining the happiness of the village and peace in the story. He spent days and weeks until he forgot what day it was and realized no one had noticed him. Finally, he accomplished his mission and changed the story for the better.
So the dragon decided it was time for a holiday, finally giving the town a much-needed break and took off to find a place where roses bloomed just as wildly
