Hi everyone As you prob know from Heidi´s posts we have reluctantly decided to return to the U.K. This was a hard heart wrenching decision to make but after living here and paying into the system for over 20yrs unfortunately I became ill after having 2 strokes last year. I had a third this year that resulted in a bleed on the brain along with an aneurism that showed up on the last MRI. Now since having my first stroke and reporting to my GP I have had no help whatsoever not even a physio appointment from the normal health system. We have had to pay private for every thing including the 2 MRI scans that cost €2.400 per scan plus €175 per consultation of which I have had 5 to date and €170 per xray 2 of them. Now each time I had anything done in the private hospital HCB we presented the findings to the GP. All I was told is I have to go in the queue like everyone else and there are people worse off than me. So I asked will it take a fourth stroke to be seen then for all I got was a shrug of the shoulders. The neurosurgeon that saw the MRI on my neck said it was serious and that something needs to be done and quick or the spinal cord is going to be trapped and it will lead to paralysis if nothing is done and soon. So after speaking with family the decision was made to return and see if the NHS could save me from being in a wheel chair for the remainder so to speak. I have been given a 3/4 month window to get it done before my neck collapses so we are going to try this way. I would like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for the GoFund Me and whoever set it up. It will help towards whatever it will cost to adapt our new home to make our life easier. I don´t cry much but when I saw the page I felt so humble and embarrassed at the same time and shed a few tears. To all that donated thank you so much and I have so many friends here that are going to be dearly missed. We still have a few weeks before we go so going to meet up with as many of you as we can.
