At the end of last century, when I began to travel backpacking around the world, I discovered the great and beautiful landscapes that surrounded me, as well as its people and their cultures. At the same time I developed the techniques of composite materials, since with them I wanted to make sleds with which to cross Greenland (this is a long story …). Over the years I opte
d for carbon fiber, a material harder than steel and much lighter than aluminum, with which I was performing all kinds of parts at an industrial level. I was missing something…
I thought that incredible material could be used, needed, needed and wanted to use, for more than just pieces for the industry. So I began to model, by hand, an infinite number of tests and developed my own techniques until I got my first sculpture in a single layer of carbon fiber. I had endowed a part of my soul with that sculpture and that made my spirit smile. Little did I discover the Urushi lacquer, the best lacquer in the world, and then my inner self began to vibrate like never before, I fell in love. I fell in love with the incredible combination of the use of a material as technologically advanced as carbon with the Urushi lacquer, with its tradition, its extremely high quality, its impeccable finish and its thousands of years old, that great mixture of the old and the modern. And so it all began… So I began to create sculptures and jewels with a part of my soul. ESPAÑOL
A finales del pasado siglo, cuando empecé a viajar de mochileo por el mundo, decubrí los grandes y preciosos paisajes que me rodeaban, así como sus gentes y sus culturas. Aprendí a ver la belleza, esa belleza que nos cautiva en los pequeños detalles de todo lo que me rodeaba. Paralelamente fui desarrollando las técnicas de los materiales compuestos, ya que con ellos pretendía hacer unos trineos con los que cruzar ida y vuelta Groenladia (esta es una larga historia…). Con los años me decanté por la fibra de carbono, material más duro que el acero y mucho más ligero que el aluminio, con el que fui realizando todo tipo de piezas a nivel industrial. Me faltaba algo…
Pensé que ese increíble material podía usarse, debía, necesitaba y quería usarlo, para algo más que piezas para la industria. Así pues empecé a realizar, modelándolo a mano, infinidad de pruebas y desarrollando técnicas propias hasta que conseguí mi primera escultura en una sola capa de fibra de carbono. Había dotado de una parte de mi alma a esa escultura y eso hizo sonreir a mi espíritu. Poco descubrí la laca Urushi, la mejor laca del mundo, y entonces mi fuero interno empezó a vibrar como nunca lo había hecho, me enamoré. Me enamoré de la increíble combinación del uso de un material tan tecnológicamente avanzado como es el carbono con la laca Urushi, con su tradición, su extremadamente alta calidad, su impecable acabado y sus miles de años de antigüedad, esa genial mezcla de lo antiguo y lo moderno. Y así comenzó todo… Así empecé a crear esculturas y joyas con una parte de mi alma.
