Actually pretty simple:
I plan in advance.
For context, all our pets, two cats and two dogs are rescues and really attached to us. That’s why we started prepping trips a few months in advance:
The cats:
Since we got them, we made it a habit for them to be inside a carrier and a travel in a car. This doesn’t make only vet visits simpler but also they are used seeing new places. This reduces stress a lot. We have a dedicated cat sitter and we bring our cat to stay with her for the time we’re gone.
The dogs:
We started training a few months ago by giving them to stay over at friends and family when we are doing grocery or running errands. That way they learned that we are always coming back. Also, when we do get the chance we ask other people to accompany our dogs making a walk. We will bring them to stay at a pet hostel where I can stay together in a box at night and over day they can go inside and outside as they please.
Since Amy has a heart condition and a sensitive digestive system we need a sitter we can rely on the de-freezing her 100% meat based food and to give her her medicine in the morning in the evening reliably.
And that’s it.
Don’t let anyone tell you, you can’t travel with pets. You absolutely can. You just need to prep properly and sooner. 😻😻🐶🐶
