Les jornades sobre Art Brut pretenen incidir i analitzar, a partir del seu origen l’any 1945, l’actualitat d’aquestes pràctiques i les seues múltiples derivacions, interferències i influències en àmbits molt heterodoxos.

Aquestes jornades es presenten amb motiu de la clausura de l’exposició Jean Dubuffet. Un bàrbar a Europa, que s’exhibeix en la Galeria 1 de l’IVAM fins al 16 de febrer i que reuneix 150 obres de l’artista francés entre pintures, dibuixos, escultures, grafitis, textos i fins i tot música. L’exposició mostra a un artista en constant qüestionament de la cultura dominant i que va donar veu a creacions artístiques procedents d’altres cultures no occidentals i a sectors de la societat que eren permanentment invisibilitzats.

John Maizels shared on his page sad news: “Very sad to announce that great visionary writer and art historian Roger Cardinal passed away on November 1 at the age of 79. Words can not really express what we feel at the moment but our sympathies go to his wife Agnes and his family.”
