We invite dancers, performers and movement practitioners to immerse themselves in a one-week intensive workshop with David Zambrano, focused on dance improvisation and instant composition.

Through improvisation practice, participants explore how to consciously shape their energy — integrating body and mind, time and space — and create instant compositions in front of an audience.

The process moves from solos to duets and group improvisations, using the class itself as audience.

Zambrano invites each participant to access deeper layers and embrace performance as a spontaneous act.

David Zambrano
Dance improvisation Workshop

Learning to use one’s life experience, being able to consciously and continuously shape one’s energy integrating the body and mind, time and space through the practice of dance improvisation, students learn to create instant pieces of dance onstage in front of an audience. The workshop begins with students improvising solos, duets, and small groups utilizing the class as an audience. Zambrano pushes the students to realize that there is always something more inside and that performing is spontaneous.

Biography

David Zambrano has been a monumental figure in the international dance community for more than 40 years, and his passion for cultural exchange continues to influence his work. Zambrano is an ambassador and liaison across many borders, bringing together artists from all over the planet for his projects. He has taught his own approach to dance in more than 75 countries and has performed at hundreds of venues across the world. His pieces range from set choreography, structured improvisation, and pure improvisation. Born in Venezuela, Zambrano spent 15 years in New York and now lives in between Amsterdam and Brussels.

Clases Regulares danza contemporánea con Edward Tamayo: “MANTRA” & FLYING LOW

MANTRA es una propuesta coreográfica de entrenamiento creada por Edward Tamayo que se centra en la relación de los cuerpos con el espacio, el grupo y la musicalidad. Se basa en secuencias cortas de pies y pelvis, con el uso exhaustivo del ritmo y repetidas en bucle.

La Técnica FLYING LOW fue creada por el maestro David Zambrano, se basa en la habilidad de entrar y salir del suelo de manera eficiente y espontánea. La velocidad se utiliza como vehículo para generar un estado de alerta, donde los participantes pueden interactuar con el grupo y el entorno, utilizando las espirales naturales del cuerpo y las curvas infinitas que se dibujan en el espacio.

¿Qué es?

Mantra es una propuesta de entrenamiento coreográfico creado por Edward Tamayo que se enfoca en la relación de los cuerpos con el espacio, el grupo y la musicalidad. Parte del uso exhaustivo de diferentes ritmos musicales para crear una estructura o secuencia con los pies que se repite en bucle (el Mantra).

En muchas técnicas de practicas espirituales se usan los mantras como instrumento de concentración, relajación y conexión del momento presente. En ese sentido, hemos querido aplicar estos principios usando el movimiento, específicamente secuencias cortas que se repiten en bucle y que nos ayudan a estar conectadas.

Metodología

Partiendo de la influencia de la cultura colombiana y su relación con el baile y la celebración festiva, nos adentraremos en la búsqueda de la conexión de los pies y la pelvis, mediante intenciones que tienen que ver directamente con la ritualidad del movimiento. Dejaremos que las formas del cuerpo aparezcan por o en consecuencia del disfrute musical, organizándonos en el espacio para poder convivir, influenciarnos y ser grupo. Se trata de estar constantemente alerta y dispuestos a estar juntas.
