Four new brooches from Karin Johansson's ongoing series "Journey" are now available at Hannah Gallery.

Developed from an artist residency in New Zealand in 2020, Journey draws inspiration from forms found in the landscape and the spaces between them. Moving between abstraction and representation, the series evokes fragments of an unfolding narrative, inviting viewers to create their own connections through each piece.

INSTANT CLASSICS at Hannah Gallery
Bowl 186 by Tore Svensson, 2009
Iron, linseed oil

At first, the bowl appears almost silent. A hollow vessel with a restrained geometry. And the closer you move, the more it begins to reveal itself.

Shifting through shades of black, the iron changes with the light. The hammer marks gradually emerge, creating the rhythm across the surface. Each one records a gesture, a decision, a moment in time. Tiny perforations let the light pass through almost imperceptibly, revealing themselves only at close range. What first appears perfectly still gradually becomes the landscape of labour.

Forged from a single sheet of iron, every bowl is patiently raised by hand, blow after blow. Having been trained as a silversmith, Tore Svensson never conceals the making. Instead, the process becomes part of the work itself. Every strike contributes to the bowl's expressive language.

🔥 Last days to visit Solid Waves, on view until 3 July🔥

"Ultimately, it may also be a conversation between what we seek to control and what we accept will always escape us."

There are just a few days left to experience Solid Waves, Trinidad Contreras' first solo exhibition at Hannah Gallery.
Through jewellery and sculpture, Contreras explores the relationship between material, memory, and transformation, creating works that embrace both intention and unpredictability.

-----------------------------------------------------

"A piece may begin at the scale of a sculpture intended to inhabit a space and yet, on closer inspection, reveal the care, attention and meticulous detail of a piece of jewellery."

Trinidad Contreras reflects on the dialogue between sculpture and jewellery, a conversation that runs throughout Solid Waves. While the exhibition introduces a new body of sculptural work, each brooch carries the same attention to material, gesture and presence, inviting an intimate encounter.

Solid Waves has been extended and remains on view at Hannah Gallery until 3 July.
If you haven't visited the exhibition yet, there's still time to do so.

How does matter become memory?
This is one of the questions that seems to emerge from "Solid Waves", Trinidad Contreras’ exhibition at Hannah Gallery, on show until July 3, 2026.

As in science, philosophy or literature, artistic language also allows us to formulate questions and construct forms of knowledge. It is not merely a matter of personal taste or individual preference. When an artist masters their medium, they are able to articulate ideas, establish relationships and propose readings of the world that can be shared, discussed and examined.

Rings by Trinidad Contreras. Porcelain, enamel, and gold luster. Silver hallmark.

NEW ARRIVALS
Touch by Karin Johansson

Karin Johansson uses enamel not simply as a layer of colour, but as a means of creating depth, light, and a subtle sense of distance. Applied in extremely thin washes over silver, it allows surfaces to shift between matte and gloss, between what feels near and what feels distant, between the microscopic and the landscape scale.
