Second Stupidly Comical class was a blast!

In our final class, situations got extreme. Were the clowns able to deal with the devil, a pride of lions and invading forces? You bet! Armed with pencils, kitchen implements, coloured feathers and, most importantly, their sense of humour -they were invincible.
No problem proved too big or scary or dangerous.

We continue to find ever more crazy ways to get ourselves out of tricky situations, right the wrongs and find the best solutions. It's fantastic to see how inventive, absurd and playful these clowns can be when problems come calling!

Clowns seem to face more challenges than most. But they are also able to resolve their problems and regain serenity faster than most. Their secret? Embrace the unusual and the innovative. For them, each difficulty is a new puzzle to resolve. They follow their instincts, without limiting themselves to the obvious, or even to the acceptable. They also aren’t afraid of simplicity, which frees up their problem-solving capabilities and allows them to simply try things out until, miraculously, things fall into place.

To celebrate the fact that I have been invited back to teach online at THE CLOWN SCHOOL (LA) Sundays in October. I've created a brand new workshop: CLOWN SOLUTIONS.

In this workshop, we will explore the multiple strategies that clowns use to solve their difficulties. Following the premise that “practice improves problem solving,” I will challenge you to deploy your creativity and ingenuity to solve a wide variety of problems. Each week, you’ll be given a new category of problem – from the personal to the collective – and be encouraged to discover increasingly ridiculous, comical and surprising ways to solve each one.

These clowns are now experts in making things go from bad to worse! In our last session we had so much fun together displaying unbelievable amounts of egotistical behaviour- from overt character assasination to unexpected betrayal.

Normally this would be the end of any relationship, but in our case, we all wished our time together could continue. Fortunately TuT-Schule für Tanz, Clown & Theater has invited me back again next year!

I will miss our Sundays together!

Sometimes it just feels like things go from bad to worse without our help. Things will break down, smash, explode, get jammed, fall off.

These things can happen through no fault of our own, but they can also happen because we are trying to make things better. We're trying to fix a small problem, only to create a bigger one, we get a little frustrated, we misjudge what is needed, we panic, we try desperate measures.

Yesterday we had so much fun playing around with our difficulties in the material world, finding all the ways that lead us from control to discontrol. It's great to see how far they're willing to go and hear all they are learning from performing in class.

Things definitely get worse for our clown's inter-personal relationships last Sunday. In our class there was an overwhelming amount of driveling, pestering, anger, enthusiasm and goodwill - followed by total losses of emotional control.

Clowns are always emotionally generous, even with perfect strangers, but when taken to extremes the results are extremely hilarious!

My thanks to TuT clownschule for once again bringing together a fantastic group of international clowns for me to play with!
