The artists :
NILS DUNKEL
Nils Dunkel's artistic practice revolves around exploring traditional materials and techniques in unconventional ways. He primarily works with oil on canvas, neon light installations, and powerful images, incorporating flower motifs and historical patterns into his pieces. Additionally, he uses pattern rollers to create shifting structures and deliberate failures, resulting in works that challenge the boundaries between art and mechanical processes.
BLAIR SAXON-HILL
Blair Saxon-Hill lives and works in Los Angeles, California. While adept in many art mediums including collage, assemblage, and sculpture, Saxon-Hill is primarily an oil painter at this time. Her works are vibrant and playful; they are filled with an overarching sense of empathy and love for the world and people around her. Collectively, the works harken to the line work of past masters like Matisse and Picasso, while also looking forward with her new and distinct voice that can serve as an emotional balm for our tragic political and environmental times.
LUCY STEIN
Lucy Stein lives and works in London and St Just. Stein has developed an expansive body of conceptual work rooted in painting which embraces performance, film, curation, and writing, often in collaboration with other artists. Building upon rich painterly traditions and contemporary culture, Stein creates a world of stories. Narratives and imagery, which appear in her work, are drawn from Stein’s study of psychoanalysis, feminist theory, place histories and personal experience.
DANIEL UM
Primarily working in oil paints, Daniel Um’s subject matter focuses on fragments of his life that reside in themes of desolation and states of refuge. This autobiographical activity speaks to this quality in addition to being a reflection of his thoughts, fascinations, and impulse. The resulting compositions are ultimately collaborations between chance and intentions; creating ample room for the viewer to fill in the gaps of meaning.
