Yesterday, 150 years ago, Richard and Cosima Wagner were married in the church of St. Matthew in Lucerne, Switzerland, which I have been fortunate to visit numerous times.

Richard Wagner spent very good and important years of his life in Lucerne. Especially between 1866 and 1872, during which time he lived in Villa Tribschen. And it is precisely in that "villa" that these images of this video have been shot, which yesterday celebrated the anniversary of that wedding in Switzerland. I was honoured to be part of the production as the pianist in this video and play on Wagner's own piano which is still in his home museum in Lucerne.

Regular guests at Tribschen include Franz Liszt (father of Cosima), Friedrich Nietzsche, Gottfried Semper and King Ludwig II of Bavaria. It was precisely in this Tribschen villa that the historic concert (also on August 25th, but from 1938) conducted by Arturo Toscanini took place, giving rise to the famous Lucerne Festival. The concert featured music by Rossini, Mozart, Beethoven and of course Wagner and was broadcast by 80 radio stations in Europe and America.

I invite you to take a 5 minute cultural and musical walk through the wonderful lake of Lucerne and the house of the composer and his wife Cosima.
