Sixty percent of choristers in one UK study said singing was the most important thing they did for their mental health. That's not a small number.

There's a growing body of evidence linking regular singing with less depression and anxiety, and it's not hard to see why. Matching pitch, counting entries, breathing correctly, you simply can't be anywhere else in your head. It's a form of mindfulness, whether you think of it that way or not.

If you've been looking for something that gets you out of your head for an hour a week, come and try a rehearsal with Cantãmus, Canto Mundial, TheatreSong or Vall del Pop Singers. No experience needed.

Silent Worship, recorded live in 2010. We have only just put a video together to go with it, and we are delighted to share it with you at last.

A gentle Handel melody with words by Arthur Somervell, and a lovely piece to listen to as the evening winds down. We hope you enjoy it.

What happens when seven nations share one choir?

The singers of Canto Mundial came to the Costa Blanca from all over the world, and English is the language that brings them together. The bar after rehearsal has become a mini United Nations, and the singers even arrange their own sectional rehearsals so they can spend more time together.

In our latest Green Room article, Philip explores how real friendships have grown across every border. Music started it, and the friendships are real.

Did you know singing actually lowers your stress hormone?

Group singing drops cortisol and switches on your body's "rest and digest" response. I see it every week in rehearsals: people arrive frazzled from work, the school run, the commute, and twenty minutes later the whole room feels different.

When did you last let yourself sing? Not on a stage. Just in the car, the shower, along to the radio.

That feeling isn't your imagination. Singing is genuinely, measurably good for you, and science backs it up.
