Honoured to have brought part of Koen Vanmechelen’s visionary universe to life for We Thought We Were Alone at Palazzo Rota Ivancich, presented during the Venice Biennale.

For this extraordinary project, we fabricated Medusa’s hair in patinated bronze — an intricate composition of snakes intertwined with chickens — where every detail demanded precision, sensitivity, and technical experimentation. A challenging process that pushed craftsmanship and material to their limits.

We are deeply grateful to Koen Vanmechelen for his trust, collaboration, and artistic vision throughout this journey. Seeing the work finally inhabit the historic spaces of Palazzo Rota Ivancich is both rewarding and inspiring.

Congratulations on this remarkable exhibition.

Revisiting Armando Andrade Tudela’s exhibition at Galería Elba Benítez.

A practice where material, history, and perception quietly collide—bridging contemporary fabrication with echoes of pre-Columbian forms.

At Alfa Arte Foundry, these ideas take shape in metal—where process becomes part of the narrative.

Today, we revisit the same process — restoring what was damaged, renewing what endures.

From vandalism to revival, in Bilbao.

Craft remains.

Throwback to when these sculptural pieces by Zadie Xa came to life in our foundry ✨
Created as part of “Rough Hands Weave a Knife”, these works explore mythology, transformation, and diasporic identity through richly detailed figures that feel both grounded and otherworldly. Each sculpture carries its own narrative—hybrid beings, ritual gestures, and symbolic objects merging into a poetic visual language.

From the fluid, organic forms to the intricate surface finishes, this series challenged us to translate delicate storytelling into enduring material. Every curve, texture, and patina was carefully developed to honor the artist’s vision while elevating the tactile presence of each piece.

A reminder that behind every finished work lies a process of experimentation, collaboration, and craft.

The installation of Hondalea by Cristina Iglesias at the Santa Clara Lighthouse remains one of the most challenging — and meaningful — projects in our journey as a foundry.

Created during the uncertainty of pandemic times, this process demanded precision, resilience, and deep collaboration. Yet within that complexity, there was also a rare privilege: time spent on the island, immersed in the same landscape that breathes life into the work.

Hondalea — “abyss of the sea” in Basque — transforms the lighthouse into a living, sculptural environment. Water, geology, and imagination converge to create a space that feels both ancient and otherworldly, as if the island itself had opened to reveal its inner depths.

Working alongside Cristina Iglesias on a piece so deeply connected to place and memory is something we carry with us.

Watching Miquel Barceló at work is something that transcends documentation — it becomes an experience.

In this reel, we witness the artist shaping Gran Elefandret, a sculpture that embodies both monumentality and fragility. The elephant, a recurring symbol in Barceló’s universe, often evokes memory, territory, and the weight of history — yet here, it feels almost playful, alive in its becoming.

To see the piece emerge directly from his hands, within the foundry, is a reminder of what sculpture truly is: not just the final form, but the gesture, the touch, the moment.

At Alfa Arte, we are privileged to be part of that process — where raw material meets vision.

“Guztion etxea” — The house of all
A quiet space of memory and unity.

Created by Julia Irazustabarrena in 2010, the intertwined figures form a circle — standing, resting, enduring — holding one another in shared strength.

A tribute to the victims of terrorism, and a place where remembrance lives on, year after year.
