Welcome to our year-long tag challenge, where scraps, stains, and textures meet. Each month, Maha Vintage By Maha and I will create a tag inspired by a new theme.
October's prompt is: CONNECT.
I started by simply playing with watercolors, with the eyelets already in mind. Then came the Arabic stamping, in faded vintage tones, a little contrast against the fresh, brighter colors.
And somehow, that became another kind of connection: new with old, bold with worn, color with age.

Two months late… because apparently I’ve become terrible at sharing my work 😄
It had been years since I made a wedding hoop, and I didn’t realize how much I missed it until I started working on this one.
Going back to flowers, layers and all those little details I love felt really good. 🤍

One botanical book page, cut, layered and brought back to life.
I played with raised layers and different shades of tea staining to create depth, moving the leaves around until everything finally felt right to me.
The white splatters were a last-minute decision, partly wiped away, partly left behind, and I think that imperfection gave the piece the aged, artistic feel it needed.
Another month of creating with Maha, reminding each other to keep making time for what we love. 🤍

This little wooden organizer once held wooden embellishments. I had two of them, so I sent one to Maha, kept the other, and challenged us both to repurpose it using mixed media.

From the beginning, I imagined each little compartment holding a metal piece or two, surrounded by scraps of fabric, texture, and my beloved cheesecloth 🤎

While looking for the right words to add, I came across this quote:

“Keep some room in your heart for the unimaginable.”

I loved it so much that I adjusted my original idea and kept one compartment just for these words.

Sometimes leaving a little room is part of the making too. ✨

I started with an old clothing tag I had kept simply because I loved its shape, then covered it with pieces from a Freska paper bag I saved from the beach years ago, designed by
For the little hanging tag, I added “Freska Freska” on one side and kept its original “Recycled polyester padding” on the back, it just felt perfect for this prompt.
I also loved keeping the original message about keeping our beaches clean. 🌊🐟
A few things I couldn’t throw away finally found their new purpose. 💙💛

Three hours ago, I had no idea how I was going to tackle this prompt.
Even though I love working with photos, this tag felt different.
I started by picking a packet of Tim Holtz ephemera and layering a few pieces together... but the film negative is what brought everything to life. It added the magic I was looking for. 📷✨

My first idea was to use an old notebook page.
Instead, I stitched the lines.
The fabric became the paper, the thread became the ruling, and the tag slowly turned into a little botanical reference sheet filled with samples, notes, and observations.
The loose threads stayed exactly where they were. They felt like part of the story.

I wanted to play a little with tea bags and keep things beautifully simple.
Just a couple of stitches, a few soft textures, and tiny rub-on flowers scattered around to add a delicate touch.

Nothing complicated… just a peaceful creative moment I genuinely enjoyed 🤍

This month’s fluff prompt felt a little more personal 🤍
Since it happens to be my 48th birthday month, I wanted this tag to feel like a quiet little celebration.
I used a sweet image of a girl celebrating with her cat from wrapping paper Maha sent me, added a handmade “48” plate, then layered different laces and soft textures to bring the feeling of fluff into the piece.
Soft, playful, a little nostalgic…
and happily 48 ✨
