SEMAT is the first Egyptian organisation to provide support to independent filmmakers and talents in Egypt and the Arab World. The main objective of SEMAT's project is to create a free artistic trend, which is parallel to but independent from the existing cinema institution. to open new channels for free artistic expression; encourage youths to join this field; and stress the role of audiovisual productions as a great means of expression for artists as well as for cultures. Very early on, Semat was awakened to the importance of education and training as an essential tool to complement talent. Hence workshops became a big part of the organization's activities. Semat has accumulated a lot of experience in this field over the years. SEMAT organised workshops for youth, children & women in the provence of Egypt (Alexandria, Menya, Aswan, etc.) & in the arab countries (Lebanon, Jordan, etc.)
