New abstract work from resident artist Kinda Adly strays into another entirely new aesthetic direction that we absolutely love.

Veering away from her intricately-worked amalgamations of figurative detailing that animates her vibrant pop-art fusion, Kinda now demonstrates an emphatic display of abstraction combining patterns, webbing, and tonal and textured backgrounds.

As she emerged from her prison period years, Inji Efflatoun (1824-1989) harbored a bursting desire and yearning for the serenity and detachment that immersing oneself in nature inevitably brings. She moved into her countryside farm in Kafr Shokr, and it was there on her plot of idyllic farmland that she began the next period of her artistic journey.

From its towering pigeon huts and verdant foliage, to majestic date palm trees dotting the horizon and the myriad of richly-colored fresh fruit and vegetables that the fertile soil brought forth, and the celebrations of harvest that ensued, she studiously observed and diligently illustrated the peasants conducting their daily chores, a duty so simple yet satisfying, and above all noble, in its purpose and timeless significance.

Art lovers can discover Inji’s works via our website (link in bio), as Safarkhan remains the exclusive purveyor of this pioneering artist-activist’s remaining body of work.

Elric Miault’s painting is unique and of a universal nature. One feels an intense joy in being captivated by these pictorial jewels, which, day after day, incessantly reveal new messages. The artist’s various techniques beautifully combine tradition and innovation by the use of gold, silver, copper, bronze and colors made out of minerals, pigments and lacquer. The glints of gold and the iridescence of precious stones convey a magical spirit to the symbolism of his works.

Miault’s painting was born from an alchemist quest. The artist draws inspiration from the cosmic immensity of the Creation and, in particular, in the mineral world of Gaia, the Earth, which he surveyed on numerous journeys.

What sets Ashraf El Zamzami’s painting apart is its undeniably extemporary and spontaneous essence, a form of artistic honesty that teaches as much as it provokes and inspires. Even after decades of hosting Zamzami’s enrapturing canvases, we still have not fully grasped the great depth and breadth of his imaginative force, nor the exact source of his phenomenal abilities.

It is this enigmatic quality that we can at least always be certain of when it comes to witnessing Zamzami’s art. It is a brand of painting that is not to merely be enjoyed or experienced, but rather one that is to be continually interpreted, ruminated over and wrestled with – and that to us is undoubtedly the pinnacle of artistic achievement and purpose.

Ashraf El Zamzami, ‘Partnership’, 2023, oil on canvas, 135 x 205cm, signed & dated.

An exhilarating collection of works by play a focal role in the sprawling main lobby of the recently opened five-star luxury resort, the Giza Palace hotel in Sheikh Zayed.

Khatab’s signature brand of layered abstract-figuratism allows him to produce paintings replete with depth, detail and a beautified aesthetic underpinned by an unusual and paradoxical harmonization of realism with abstraction. It is this duality that attributes Khatab’s art its innate uniqueness and thus its almost universal appeal, in each and every work, there is so much to witness and digest, yet also as much if not more, is left concealed under a shroud of mystery to extrapolate and ruminate over.

Prof. Amal Nasr returns in our Anthology III summer collection with new work that blends the mythological markers of ancient civilizations with her own philosophical approach to painting. It is a form of painting that despite being an esteemed academic, forgoes classical realism and instead embraces her own spirited brand semi-abstracted forms, figures and motifs all conceived in an always enlivening and intriguing palette.
